Pat,
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I liked her.

I hope you get to cuddle with your new Grandson real son.

Please take care of yourself!

Pat,
We heard the news on Friday, but were in Newberry with no computer and just got home tonight. You've been in our hearts all weekend, and still are. Peace and much love to you and your family.--J&S

Hi all,

I haven't been able to get here for a day or so, but I've felt your good thoughts and they've helped.

My mother was buried today and Joey came home today too. They synchronicity of all this seems like something more than the normal life cycle. Joey's early arrival on my father's birthday was freaky enough, but my mother died on the day he was originally scheduled to be born. He was going to be a scheduled c-section, so we knew for sure when he was coming - or so we thought. After those two events, my daughter said that she just knew that Joey would come home the day that Grandma was buried and that's what happened. All of this helps. It feels like everything was meant to happen this way, for reasons we can't fathom, of course.

My mother had just turned 85, and that's not a bad lifetime, so although she's missed, it was not an untimely death. Her mental capacity had diminished in the last year, and life was dimming for her and life was getting harder for her all the time. What was hard was all the decisions. We never wanted to play God, but it seems that a lot of the time you have to, no matter whether you decide, "do this" or "don't do that", either way, you're taking on decisions that you never wanted to make. That is truly a horrible experience and I hope never to have it again.

Anyway, that's where we're at and we'll be spending the remainder of the week helping with the new baby.
