Hi Everybody, re: what RB said. The Komen Foundation is the one that I support as well. My daughter and I do the walk every fall in Central Park. Last year I walked with a Pink shirt that had Judy B's name on it as well as other friends that are so special to me. I thought it would be a way to pay them back for being so good to me amidst their own problems. I like the Komen walk because you have to donate a small (very small) sign up fee (covers your t-shirt). The others, like say, Avon or Revlon, insist on a target amount for your fundraising, minimum over $1K. You have to be responsible for raising that much in pledges. I find Komen much more reasonable. sue, sorry you weren't able to get the "lap" procedure, but glad they were able to get in there without complications and finally (eventually) give you relief! It's nice being able to eat without dreading or anticipating an attack!

Sue, my zipper is right in front! Glad the surgery is over, sorry they couldn't do it the "easy" way. I just think of it as my "brag" rights for getting older (my zipper is bigger than your zipper).

Been stapled 4 times... 3 c-sections & a hysterectomy... hated getting the staples removed!

My wife also had 3 C-sections, but my health insurance didn't cover staples. She had paper-clips.

Joe, they leave less scar and are much easier to remove <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

Okay, I'm two weeks past the surgery...I'm real good at sitting in a chair and watching tv, reading trashy novels,watching movies and listening to music. I've made a few brief trips out to the grocery (yep, I can drive now...the dr said I could as soon as I was off the pain meds) and I'm back to doing simple household chores like dishes and laundry. I still have some pain, but I'm taking ibuprofen for it. The staples and stitches have been out for a week; the incision is about eight inches long. The biggest problem now is how TIRED I get, and how quickly I get worn out. I really need my afternoon nap! It is surprising how much energy it takes to heal from something like this.
A week ago today, I got to kiss Jim goodbye as he left for a business trip to France...I was supposed to go with him. I certainly wasn't in any kind of shape to travel, so he went by himself. He'll be home on Tuesday.
The good thing about the surgery is that I can now eat whatever I want, with no problems. I actually had a piece of pizza last night; I hadn't been able to eat pizza for over a year. It was great!

Glad you're doing better. Sorry you didn't get to go to France. Went there once in '73 & it was interesting. Hope ya get better soon!

Sue, I just heard about your surgery. Sorry you didn't get the easy surgery. But glad you are feeling better and gaining strength. I had the lap surgery in May of 2002. They kept telling me I was going to feel like a new woman. I'm still waiting for her to show up. But it did stop the pain. I was in pain for 2 years. The first thing they tested was the gall bladder and found no problem. Then decided it was muscle spasms, then hernia. I was so drugged for the last 6 months I had to crawl down the hall to the bathroom because it was a shorter fall than from standing up. Finally they the gall bladder scan again and there it was a stone totally blocking the entrance to the gall bladder. It was sure nice to find out what it was and get that booger out of me. I know you are glad it's over an are on the mend. Know I feel for you and am praying for your total recovery. Mind the DR.s and take it easy.
