We had a great day today. Went to HAWKS NEST STATE PARK & had fun. They have these jet boats you can ride on the whitewater rapids which are like a pontoon boat. You have to ride down the mountain on an enclosed ski lift cable car tram. It's like the one they had in Gatlinburg, TN in the 60's. That was so much fun . Mike was scared senseless on the tram going up in the air LOL! He closed his eyes & recited the 23rd Psalm as we rode the tram up in the air. & The lodge is so pretty! We ate there & want to go back next yr & maybe spend the nite there! I also saw a cave (tourist cave) & signs for a covered bridge & I want to go to both of those next yr. We're at Huntington, WV. ECONOLODGE isn't as nice as last nites motel or as scenic but hey for 30 some bucks ya can't complain. Tomorrow we go to the VALUE CITY store here then onward to Mikes sisters in Columbus, Ohio for the rest of the 2 weeks. See ya'll later!

yep, Nathen, Larry...only way i know of, to get oriented to the sun coming up out of the ocean, is to watch sunrises, in a mirror...headed for the Atlantic side, 1st... I found a great coffee table book, with photos of the Sierras, the San Gabriels, the Cuyamacas, Shasta & Lassen,... that may help mitigate FLAs pool table topography, for me..
I've never lived anywhere where a freeway overpass was the counties high spot, before..but then... I've never seen a Manatee before, either, so, adventures create trade-offs.. Im excited abut the move.....

first thing ya have to do is drop the freeway crap! you either take I95, I10, or the Turnpike... (or some other "I" variant)
The only thing "Free" in florida is the sunshine, and the Love Bugs!

Why are you moving to FL anyway? I thought it was full now and people wishing to retire had to go to North Carolina. And voting..the voting is different in FL, I think.

Good morning everyone--actually it's not morning anymore, but talk about new beginnings--I'm actually on the campus of Kent State (yes, THAT one) where I am starting my MLIS (Library Science) degree studies. One class down, one to go for today. Now on Mondays I will be a college student for the first time in more years than I want to tell you about. Wish me luck everyone!

Hey, Pat! Best wishes for a wonderful college experience! I wish you a 4.0 gpa! (I know you'll put all those young'uns to shame with your superior knowledge and skills!)

I've been thinking about taking classes again... I work at UAlbany, and can get tuition reimbursement... maybe next semester! I would go for the same degree as you, except here the program is Information Science... it's the MLS program, with extra training in computer information.

Congrats Pat. Wyld, go for it! I spent this morning at Kutztown U getting all my last-minute stuff done before classes begin on Wednesday. From now through December, I'll be in Anthropology, Archeology and History classes every M, W, and F.

On T and Th, I'll still be working in the community college's computer lab, as well as teaching adult continuing ed computer classes.

Wow... it feels SO good to be going back to school. Actually, I went back 3 times, and 3's the charm. I ended up with 2 Associates Degrees and am now working on my Bach. Degree in Anthropology. Still deciding where to do my masters. Choices are U of NM at Gallup and Northern AZ U at Flagstaff. Gallup is Indian Country and closer to the Navajo, Zuni and Hopi reservations than Flagstaff is, so it'll probably be UNM. That's still 3 years away, but I like to plan early

Good luck and best wishes to ALL of us returning to school.

Terrie
