BuffaloGal, Cliffite's having problems with his PC that seem identical to yours. It's less than or about a year old, so the specs are all pretty good, but all of a sudden it is like molasses! He's pretty much exhausted every possibility except what Pat said, which is definitely last-resort action. What was it again, that we did with our time before these time-saving devices came into being? I forget. (Not to grouse too much--one thing we didn't do is "talk at" each other like this!) I *look* at the processes all the day, but Win2K won't allow me to end-task any of them. There are 28 running (but there always were that many before this began).

You mean like time travel, Nathen? I don't think we'd waste that on trouble-shooting computers.

Celery time might work, but not conventional time travel. I mean if you took your nice new pentium 4 back with conventional time travel, it would turn into a pentium 2, a pentium, a 486, a 286, and eventually an abacus.

I've heard that some O/S can do that but I have no idea how to do it... and what about all that's been added/removed since that time? I'd lose all that stuff.

We have a program called The Help Spot and on it is a sub-program called prevention and there in all it's glory is backtrack.
I think most programs have some sort of device that allows one to go and undo what has been done.
The program goes back to a certain snapshot taken when changes were made to windows and restarts at the time the snapshot was made. New programs are retained as are pictures in programs such as picture it.
I have done this a few times and recovered from some major mistakes so if someone can walk you tru the process it might help.
Pat, is our resident guru, and Dave of course is the wizard but I think he is on a mac system, ask Pat, she knows everything.

I think there is a program called GOBACK where with it you can brin your puter back to a time before it was currently goofing up or you had installed a certain program. Not sure if it's free or not. I've never used it but I've read about it on the free internet message boards...
