Latest update from Marian:

"Thank God she hasn't been sick with the treatments, just terribly tired. I put her to bed as soon as we got home and stayed until about 4 when Loretta came back. She will not be having chemo next week. She'll see the doctor Wed., and have white blood count done, another brain scan & MRI to see the results of the chemo . If he doesn't think its effective enough she will undergo radiation during the last week of May. It is serious and Stage 4 as I told you before. We're all just trying very hard to be positive and keep her positive and pray that the treatments put her in remission. Please just keep her in your prayers."

Seems AnnaMarie is having complications from chemo... something called cellulitis, I think. And she's severely dehydrated. Here's more from Marian's email:

"Hi Ellen and Terrie, Ann is in the hospital, I think i told you that and I went to see her today. She's pretty out of it right now and I'm hoping they will keep her in the hospital this week and do the chemo while she is in there. This way she'll be getting fluids and the rest she needs to get. Hopefully, we will have some results of her tests tomorrow. God, this is so stressful for everybody. Her son came down from NY and Har, Cheryl and Loretta and I were there today. Daniel is coming down tomorrow. I'll keep you updated as soon as I know more. Thanks for your support and prayers."

Another email... this morning's update:

"We had to take her to emergency on Friday night. She has an infection (celulitis) in her leg which is a form of mercer. She was extremely weak, dehydrated and confused. Another brain scan & MRI was taken but we do not have the results as yet. She was totally out of it when I saw her yesterday. I'm going to the hospital today and hope to see the doctor to get a letter for Social Security Disability. She is incoherent and not responsive to questioning. I'll keep you updated."

I'll be praying and sending vibes for AnnaMarie, Marian and their whole family to receive comfort, spiritual and emotional strength, and for physical healing.

Sending my vibes to Anna Marie and to her family and hope that she will be feeling better soon. It is a terrible fight. Being surrounded by a loving family will give her strength.
Love and Peace

Yes, Judy... Marian tends to make up her own interpretations of names... actually "mercer" is a quite common "form" of MRSA. Doesn't sound too good, does it? And I think she's only 2 months out from diagnosis! Her cancer fund-raiser's being held next month.

Thanks for all your kind wishes. I think Marian's the one who could use the prayers and vibes even more at this point. Her family has a history of longevity... her mother's still alive (at 93) and her father just died a few months ago (at 93). This is hitting them all pretty hard and by surprise!

News from Marian:

"Just wanted you to know that Ann had radiation on Tuesday and she had a seizure on Wednesday. She is presently in ICU. She had radiation again today and will tomorrow. We really don't know the outcome of all this but trying to keep positive."

From Marian:

"Hi Ellen, Ann is in Delaware County Hospital, room 518. She is comatose. The cancer has spread through her brain, her kids had them do radiation again yesterday, but there has been no response all week. She is on morphine but the doctors do not think she will last through the weekend but of course we don't know for sure. She had a seizure earlier in the week and there is always the possibility of another. I just hope and pray that it ends soon and she is out of pain. It is so difficult seeing her every day in this condition. I think she knows that we are there but cannot communicate in any way.

"None of us are holding up very well, especially Loretta. I'm really worried about her too since she has the diabetes. Some days she just hasn't been able to go to the hospital. She's such a bowl of sunshine no matter how bad things got. I'm going up there shortly this morning. I doubt very much that there is any change. I'll try to get to you tonight. Please pray for us all for the ability to cope."
