White choc is awesome Arnie - and it doesnt have as much caffeine. I wouldnt want to jeopardize my 3 hours of sleep each night!! PS - Im risking everything here - but I love carob too - on frozen yogert and fresh strawbs - YUM.

Just be careful about those sugar-free jelly bellies...they've got sorbitol in them...you'll know what I mean if you have a few too many!!

well just to even out the universe, I went out tonite to the Melting Pot and had a double helping of Dark Chonklit Fondue, and dipped some chonklit cake into it for good order!

Haven't had carob in yrs but I do like it. Boy can I attest to the after effects of sorbitol and malitol lol. That's why I can't eat anything with sorbitol and malitol in it. That leaves out most diabetic candies and ice creams etc. Bummer...

The Melting Pot is a wonderful place!! They make the best chocolate martinis in the whole world!

Thanks Cheryl & Sue. My mother in law mentions that every time John is kind enough to buy her candy.

Arnie, when I know I'm comin to a Tailgate I will order some of those Chocolate Martinis and Fondue.

We have a four day holiday at Easter here. I spent it having fun working outside. It's the beginning of Fall here (most people call it Autumn in Oz) I mowed my paddocks and got heaps of grass mulch for my veggie patches. I planted lots of winter veg. Moved the chook dome so the Blunderchooks can clean up then fertilize one of the beds that was finished. I had a heap of dried branches and stuff from trees we cut for fire wood. (we grow scrubby wattles which pump nitrogen into the soil then die after about seven years then we use em for firewood) So I had a big fire while the sun was going down and the moon was coming up. I sat there on the ground under the southern cross and drank a cup of tea. Times like that I really miss my dogs who both departed this earth in the last couple of years, both at seventeen years of age. The cat came out and sat with me, mesmerized by the fire. He looked like one of those Egyptian cats, you know, sitting on his haunches completly still.
Then I got to thinking how great it would have been to have a bunch of Blunderites sitting around the fire with me. Toasting marshmellows, mabey some mead? And of course a guitar. We could have all done a few lines of Alice's?

Louise, except for the fire, you kindof described the Fall tailgate. Home made goodies (store bought goodies) guitars and people singing. Everyone sitting around trying to catch up with friends. A lot of laughter, some nostalgia, and everyone wishing the could stop the clock to a little while.

You painted a really nice picture of where you are and what you were doing...even tho I dont understand some of the words.

That's another reason I miss my dogs, they were always on "snake patrol"
when we went out in the paddock or down by the creek or the pond.

My favorite snake-getter is a goat. My sweet-faced does used to stomp the shit out of snakes. It was a beautiful thing.

I've been volunteering at a stable where they have a lot of rescue horses...some were abandoned, some were Premarin mares, all have issues. The barn cats (all rescues from former bad homes) do a pretty good job keeping the small furry creatures under control (we never SEE any live ones!) but occasionally a few get past them. Some of the horses really dislike rats...it is not unusual to go in to clean stalls and find a mashed rat kicked into a stall corner. We also occasionally find drowned rats in the water buckets; we're not sure if they fall in by themselves, or if they have equines to help them drown. The horses will also stomp the crap out of any snake they find in the pastures.
My grandfather was a farmer in the Bloomington, Indiana area...he had a couple of favorite black snakes that hung out in the rafters of the barn. He loved them; they were good at catching rats and mice, and the sparrows were reluctant to nest in the barn with the snakes in there.

yeah I like having some of the snakes around like the carpet python to eat rats and mice in the barn and the Keelback, a type of watersnake that will bite but has no venom. They like our place because we have a big pond (everyone calls them dams here) The Keelbacks are wonderful because they are the only snake that can eat the dreaded Cane toads with no ill effect. But there are other more deadly types around and it's good to have a dog or cat that lets you know!

Sue I've had horses all my life and think it's great that you are helping them. Some of my friends who took Premarin didn't have a clue where the estrogen in them came from til I told em!!! They felt terrible! I have never needed any type of HRT thank goodness, but if I did I would sure want to know where it was coming from!
