Sherry,
I have another good friend who also has crohn's disease and she recently had a surgery (she knew it was coming, but was hoping to put it off). I certainly hope your doctor can help you, and I understand what you are going through--Love, hugs, blundervibes and prayers headed your way for all of you!

Sherry, I am SO sorry... I just finally got internet access tonight after the show. I certainly would have offered you my best wishes in person had I seen these posts earlier. I hope all goes well with all the tests you're dealing with.

I know all too well what chronic pain is... mine's in my joints and can be disabling on some days. Sometimes we have to give in to the pain and take the meds just to function.

Please accept my best wishes to you and to your mom.

Terrie

Sherry, sorry for the lateness of this post (I haven't been online in awhile). Will send blundervibes and hugs even harder to make up for lost time.

I'm glad to hear your mother's prognosis is so good. Radiation therapy is not pleasant, but it sure beats the alternative. I hope the dr's find out the cause of your pain--and that your meds are working well.

You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

howdy folks...thanks for all the vibes...they do work...and i know it!

here's the latest version of what is going on...

i couldnt get in to see a dr in la until july and i couldnt get an appt in ma until june 30th. i got back to ga yesterday (we left a car and a dog here when we drove north for ken's vacation) and i made a few calls and had a dr appt for this morning at 10. ken went home to work for 2 weeks and i stayed in ga to follow up on my own health stuff. thank god for good friends like rene. he and the girls are taking great care of me.

mom is having a bone scan today at 3 and seeing her regular dr tomorrow for a pre surgery physical tomorrow and then friday she will meet with the oncologist.

june 1st i have to call the pre-admission nurse instead of my mom going in as her memory isnt what it used to be from the m.s. so i will fill in all the medical stuff and get that taken care of.

in the mean time, i am going for a 'small bowl with follow through' tomorrow so that should be a few hours of 'annoyance' as opposed to next wednesday when i am scheduled for a colonoscopy. the test itself wont be as bad as the prep...but what can you do?!

mom's surgery is scheduled for monday june 7th and we have to be at the hospital at 7:15. that is an update on previous information.

i am feeling better than i have since sat/sun but still not 'well'. the pain has not been as intense and i havent had to take any pain meds...but i am still uncomfortable and dont have full strength.

the dr prescribed anti inflammatory meds that i will pick up this evening....16 pills a day! i sure hope they make a difference and dont have icky side effects (note that medical term!)

ken will be flying back to ga on the 2nd of june and we will drive back up to ma to be with mom in time for her surgery and then i'll be staying up there unless i need any follow up stuff down here in ga...then we'll play it by ear...but hopefully they will know everything they need to know by then and get me back on the path to good health.

that's the latest....gorey details and all...

thanks again for all the love and support!
blundervibes are the best vibes in the world!

hugs to you all....
me

howdy again...just checking in....

i drank my barium like a good little girl and they took pictures of my insides for a few hours at the hospital in savannah....no word on the results yet...

been swallowing those new pills...8 in the morning and 8 in the evening...(aint we got fun!) and hoping that they will start making a difference.

i had to take a pain pill last night but am doing pretty well tonight...we'll see what the rest of the weekend brings...we rented a wheelchair so i can get around with everyone...makes life much easier!

mom had her bone scan and met with her regular dr who (as far as i know) cleared her for surgery). i havent spoken to her yet this evening but she was on her way to meet the oncologist....we'll see what she thinks of him!

next week mom gets to take it easy and i have to drink a gallon of awful tasting stuff that will clean out my insides...cant wait

will let you know what i found out as soon as i hear anything...

thanks again for the continued love and support and most of all for the blundervibes!

here's to not needing so many some time soon!

Hi, Sherry. I'm so sorry you're going through all this. I've had to do the upper and lower GIs and all the "clean out" stuff that goes with it. These docs need to find better (easier on the patient) ways of diagnosing.

I know you'll get through it all knowing the strenght and support that comes from this place. Don't try to "be strong" against pain and taking painkillers. Ain't worth it, just take what you need to get through it all. There are no gold medals for "being strong" and not taking the meds that are available.

Best wishes and much love as you have to deal with all you're dealing with.

Sherry, do you absolutely have to drink a gallon? Everyone I know who's gone lately have been able to drink something else, but much less of it. I hope that'll be the case for you.

We're thinking about you all the time and if good wishes are any help you and Joyce are getting them from a lot of people.

sherry, you have my sympathies if you gotta drink that crap. I'm impressed that anyone can get that stuff down. The one time I hadda do something similar, the stuff not only was warm and vile looking, but it had a coconut/citrus 'flavor'(?) to it... I HATE COCONUT! so it was double indignity and suffering.
But enough about me! It's you we're rooting for! Maybe you'll upchuck on the doc who works the nasty tubes? That'll teach'em to mess with our sherry!

take it all in stride with the knowledge, "this too shall pass"
I'm with ya' in spirit.

T minus 2 hours and counting! the stuff is mixed and in the fridge....i have to start drinking at noon...8 ounces every 15 - 30 minutes until it's gone....ICK. i got the orange flavor..figured it was better than lemon lime or pineapple (if you are me!)...

mom liked the oncologist....i dont know what he said to her but she liked the way he said it...so that is good.

i havent heard anything about the upper gi yet and i wont have results from tomorrow's test for 7 days.

the wheel chair was a great idea except for the fact that i have discovered i cant sit down! i get pains in my stomach from sitting. i can lay down or stand up but i cant sit .....i havent had a pain pill since thursday..though i could have used one once or twice. i'm really trying to avoid them.

i can now swallow 8 pills in only 2 handfuls/swallows...so i guess that's an improvement.

i am SO not looking forward to this afternoon/evening...but what can you do? LOL at least the drugs tomorrow afternoon should be fun.

i'll try to keep the gorey details to myself!

thanks for being 'here' and i'll let you know as soon as i hear anything....
