Well I'm off on a last minute trip LOL! Every yr we always go to Nags Head, NC for a week & stay with my folks at their condo there. When they aren't staying in it, it gets rented out to tourists. We were supposed to go on our annucal weeks trips to Nags head, the Sat after this one & my parents friends were coming down today there & stay a few days. Well my mom had to ask me to switch weeks in going there & go on Sunday & come back the Monday after this upcoming Monday cuz their friends, the old man got heart trouble & is in the hospital with that. The man is almost 90 & is really spry for his age. So we get to leave & got to Nags Head on Sun & come back the Monday after this upcoming one. Talk about last minute plans. I am so busy packing LOL! I will have my laptop with me & be able to check out the websites & message boards I hang around on on the internet like this one but with my laptop being an old slow 486, it might be too slow to allow for much writing. Hopefully it'll let me write. So if it's too slow to write & I don't get much writing done online, have a good memorial day people!

Hello and good morning to all you good folks.
Cheryl, your story of the 90 year old friend of the family made me have an incredible flash of my grandmother's face. She's going to be 91 on the 27th and we just had a suprise birthday party for her this past Sunday. She thought she was going to a graduation party and the look on her face was priceless when she came in and realized that over 100 people came to sing to her and celebrate with her. As much as I hope I never live that long, I look at her and think it wouldn't be so bad if I can even experience a portion of what she has.

At any rate, mostly I just wanted to wish everyone a good weekend. Hope you are all well and enjoying all there is.

Cheryl, have a great trip!

Ters, it's good to hear from you. I hope your weekend is special! The birthday party sounds great--I know she loved it.

They're calling for a silent moment at 3 p.m. (your local time) on Monday, in honor of all who have died for our country. I'll be there, here. And we're being very MC American; seeing family and grilling something.

Memorial Day isn't exactly a holiday to wish everyone a "happy" on so I won't, but I hope it's a happy and good and restful (or exciting, as you wish) and healing weekend for all Blunderites everywhere!

Didn't know about the 3:00 silent moment--but by then, most everyone was zonked anyway. We smoked half a turkey and some ribs. Mmmmm. Sister and her 2 boys came and planted mom's flowers and shrubs (her mother's day present and the boys get credits for volunteering). Bro and his family showed up, too. We've just starting landscaping--don't want any grass--just easy-care garden beds, trees w/ groundcover around them, and walkways. The rest of us vegged out. Should post this on the "useless" thread--had the TV turned to the all-day "Trading Spaces" channel. That'll numb the mind after awhile. Whole day was pretty much eat, sit on the porch and check on the outdoor progress, shoot a few golf balls, watch Trading Spaces, throw the ball for the dog, pet a cat. Repeat several times. Good company, good food, and nice day. Gotta love the USA.

Well, we found out that my parents friends can't come down here now cuz the old man has to have heart surgery so we are gonna be staying down here until the Friday after this one. We go home June 7 Fri. Plenty of time to enjoy ourselves down here. We found out that Larry Sparks the bluegrass singer is gonna be doing a free gig here at the place Arlo performed at down here, on Sat so we are gonna go to that. Should be a fun trip!

AHHHHH, I was sitting here feeling lousy about the negative, nasty, incredibly self-absorbed woman - did I mention hateful? - I had to deal with yesterday. Mean people suck. I have GOT to learn to cope with this woman and others like her, but that's a story for the therapist, right? Anyway, so I'm sitting here thinking how bad this kind of person makes me feel when I decide to check in on Arlonet....and there's an article about some friendly-looking, peace-loving hippies AND then Todd checks in with his "%*#* Canadians" post and makes me laugh AND there's this happy, lovely "Good Morning" Topic with nice people everywhere. And now I can start my day. THANKS!!!!!
