I spoke with Nathen tonight... he's in Phoenix right now, and will be for a while...

He was involved in a pretty bad accident in Texas on April 29... he's okay, except for some broken bones and some plates and pins put in to fix them... but his rig was totalled. He was in a head-on with an out-of-control truck that came downhill across the divider right at him. He says he tried what he could to avoid it, but it wasn't possible. His driver-trainee who was riding with him came out without a scratch, though he was scared s**tless... Unfortunately, the driver of the other vehicle didn't make it.

As I said, Nathen's okay, though in the hospital and doing physical therapy... we did have an interesting discussion of "physical therapy" LOL... so he's still the same lovable lecher he always was!

Healing blundervibes would be appreciated.

Hello my dear friends and loved ones, I am at the libery in Phoenix, and as was told I was in a major accident. my bones have been put back together but some pains are deeper.
While there was nothing I could have done to prevent the other driver's death, I must also face the fact that I was there and somwhow I was the thing this man had feared from birth. Unaware and unwilling to be an instrutment of death, I was called upon and I have yet to have accepted that role.
I know he did not suffer but it was a horrible thing to witness and it is my prayer that none of you have to share in this knowledge.
Being homeless with a broken arm is interesting, but at least there are motels.
and also from the legal aspects I am 100 per cent clear.
any way thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers, my love will be with you always
Nathen

Nathan....Reading your post made my heart start pounding, my gut clench up..............I was in a similar situation many years ago..........I know how you feel.
On Easter Sunday 1986 I was on the road in my Jeep with my horse on the back travelling home from a horse show to the small town I lived in at the time. A young man from that same town was coming the other way on a 2 lane road and passed other cars driving full on into me. Sent my whole rig over an embankment. Luckily we stayed upright. My Jeep was written off as the impact was so great (the towball on the horse trailer was flattened), and he was only driving a small sedan!
Luckily my horse and I escaped with minor injury's. My husband was informed, but not of the severity of the accident, (thought I just had a bent fender or something) so he grabbed his tool box and our 4 year old daughter..and boy did he get a shock when he got there! Rescue crews, news helicopters..he helped them cut the kid out, took one and a half hours....
He didn't die but is crippled and has brain damage. Even tho the police report cleared me 100% it took 2 years of lawyers and doctors, til a brief court hearing said yes indeed I was 100% not at fault so I could get the insurance money that we pay for in our car registration here.
Meanwhile the mental and emotional effects on me and my family were the hardest to get over. The doc that stiched me up couldn't belieive I had not gone into shock.......I had no guilt about the accident and just kept telling myself "Hey I'm alive and in one piece, so I'm just gonna get on with my life!" So I got a new rig and got straight back on the road thinking I could leave it all behind! Well that lasted about 18 months then WAMMO one day I was just driving along and suddenly was overwelmed with a feeling I was gonna die. I soon found out it was a panic attack and I was suffering post- tramtic shock syndrome and it hit me hard. Took me a couple of years to really get over it.
The doc said it was all to do with seeing that car coming at me and thinking I was goaana die and that I didn't let myself go into shock at the time and tried to block it all out instead of letting the emotions out.
Sorry to rave on but just wanted you to know that I know kind of how you feel and to make sure you don't keep it all bottled up inside as it could come back on you in the future. Take care of yourself!

Hey Nathen,
Don't believe that I have, in my short time on this site, ever had the pleasure of speakin' at ya. And I'm sorry that it's taken the present situation to happen. But, for what it's worth, my hopes and thoughts to you for your healing in mind, body and spirit. And I reckon that you know that you've got a lot of folks here thinking of you and sending out their best for you as well. I hope that's some comfort. These folks are some of the nicest people who I've never met (so far), at least not out in the real world. And if you're getting all of that concern for you in the "virtual" world from them, well, it's got to mean all that much more in the real world. The Fates can wield a cruel hand at times, but knowing that there are people there for you when times are bad is a treasure. Heal well and quickly, Nathen.

Captain Zap
