A press release just came from one of the travel writers groups I belong to. Thought it might be of interest for Carnegie-goers. Disclaimer: I don't know anything about the place, but it might be worth checking out.

New York, NY (September 15, 2008) - With the average hotel room in New York City costing $350, hostels present an incredible, often overlooked, option. Broadway Hotel & Hostel, a "designer" hostel on Manhattan's Upper West Side -- already a relative bargain -- for a limited time is offering a discounted rate of $38 per night for a stay in one of their four bedded dorm rooms. This special rate is available to those who book between September 22nd and October 1st and can be used for reservations through the end of 2008.

For 10 days, starting at 9 a.m. on September 22 and ending at midnight on October 1st, the promotion is available exclusively through the Broadway Hotel & Hostel's website, http://broadwayhotelnyc.com. Those who book their reservations during this period will also be offered a complimentary drink at the Kazbar, a trendy bar and lounge located within the Marrakech Hotel NYC (http://www.marrakechhotelnyc.com), the Broadway's nearby sister property, just two blocks away.

The Broadway Hotel & Hostel recently completed a major renovation, which dramatically sets it apart from other hostels. Guests can enjoy amenities such as a 2,500 square foot recreational common area, which Corallo points out is far more than "a typical hostel hangout room with posters and a pool table." It includes a surround-sound theater room with couches, fireplace, self-service gourmet kitchen/dining area, plasma screen TVs and free wireless internet access. "There are opportunities to sit by a fire and read a book, enjoy movies in high definition, or chat with other guests in a fashionable setting - just like one would in a trendy hotel." The dormitory rooms boast such comforts as European bed linens, ceiling fans and in-room vanities. The hostel also has upscale hotel services like daily linen service and a multilingual concierge.

Private rooms, ranging from $219 to $229, are also available at The Broadway. Recently upgraded as well, they feature plasma screen TVs, down comforters, down pillows, Ecco natural bath products, shower massage heads and Asian-influenced furniture. Impulsive Group plans to take their boutique 'chic' hostel concept to different parts of the country, such as Miami, Atlanta and California.

Maybe that's part of his problem! If his eyes dried up and fell out, he couldn't possibly know what he's doing.
