I saw Arlo at the Bushnell Memorial Hall (a hoity toidy venue in Hartford, CT) in the early seventies. Paid $4.50, I believe, for front row balcony seats. I think orchestra seats were something like $6.50. Concert ticket prices for every performer/band have risen a lot higher in relationship to most folks incomes, some ridiculously so (not directed to present company). Dang, I'm gettin' old! Startin' to sound like my ol' man use to!

All I can tell ya about the gigs (for those who just came in on the original discussion), is that apparently these are two very small venues who really want us to be there. They charge a lot more than I would pay to see me anywhere. The bigger the joint the lower the ticket prices - usually, and as in these cases, the smaller, the higher as it were. We will get back to the normal venues in your area as soon as we're done yodeling with the high rollers, or whenever we can.

Hey, it's not just concert prices that have risen! In the early 70s, one could buy a fine used car for $600, a nice house for $10,000, cup of coffee or a comic book for ten cents...

The small venues are worth it, if you really want to be there.
Both Wildwood and the Chapel are both really great places.

And we are so looking forward to being there at the chapel!

I wasn't whinin' over anything specific. Just prices in general have exceeded normal people's incomes. I think minimum wage was somewhere around $1.50/ hour in the early '70s. That would translate the $6.50 I paid for an orchestra ticket to see Emerson, Lake & Palmer to about 25 bucks today! That ain't gonna happen! It'd probably be closer to $250! I remember you could pick up a new Martin D-35 for about $400 or $500. Now they list for almost three grand! And a gallon of gas was about 35 or 40 cents. Holy crap! I am soundin' like my old man!

The company I work for is trying to bust my union and I'm probably soon to be unemployed but even in light of all that and at $100 I still wouldn't miss seeing you at this very small venue! No high roller here... Just priorities ya know...

I guess there'll be a few high rollers there but once you get in and take a look around you'll see were just mostly a bunch of plain'ole ordinary folks who really enjoy you and your music. Can't wait to see you this evening! Hey Arlo, if you happen to see this before you get in this evening take a look around the small parking lot for a little green Honda Element. That'll be mine..... When I went to pick up my tickets a few weeks ago the folks at the chapel said they KNEW I must have been there for Arlo tickets judging from my bumper stickers...

I had no idea that there even was a place like that in Steelville Mo. My best friend lives 10 miles from there. If Arlo ever plays there again I might even be able to go! I'd better start saving!
