Yeah, sometimes it takes a village to raise a child, or a folk club to come to the aid of a senior citizen!
Our local folk club is really special...many people have been members for the entire 22 years of it's existance. One valued, beloved member is our friend, John. He would go in early every week and help set up the room with our sound equipment and lights. In October, he called Bill, the other person who helps set up, and told Bill he didn't feel well...Bill followed up because he didn't think John sounded right, and visited his home. John was in bad shape, with an intestinal blockage. John has now had surgery, had some time in a rehabilitation facility, spent a few weeks with friends and has sold his aging, crumbling house that had many problems (no reliable heat, bad unworkable plumbing, leaky roof, but in a very desirable area so there was a bidding war!) and has purchased a newer, better house close by. He's 76, and it's taking some time for him to bounce back...so we've got a brigade of folk club people who helped move him in and unpack, bringing meals in, helping out around the house (I unpacked, washed everything and set up his kitchen when we moved him in a week ago) putting things through the laundry and getting him to his Dr. appointments. John has only one living relative, a cousin who lives in Canada (who was here this past week). While being low on family, he's got a lot of friends who care about him, and since he's close by, it's easy to drop by to chat or bring guitars and jam over there, which he loves.

I like your style of writing Regina. Even at a glance, a person can tell, it comes straight from the heart.....

Your friend in Blunder/Rob

Reg,

I agree with pretty much every word in rb's post, but this one line really sums up how I feel. Thanks rb. Your post makes this set of blundervibes go out with a special umph!

Sue - I remember the beginning of the story of your friend from the folk club. Im so glad he's doing better. Vibes (and hard work) really worked for him too right??

Rob/Goofus thank you for what you wrote (about my writing) Im complimented and will try to take the compliment graciously. (if not a bit embarrassed). Rob you know I think the world of you and Sue too! Goofus - I hope we meet sometime - but if not, you're still in my heart.

The way the Blunderite world has adopted Mrs. T. is such a wonderful thing. She's blown away by every card & cookie & flower. Ive said this before, but Ive had people I dont know - or know well - show me her address in their wallet, so they always have it with them, in case they see a post card or something they feel they would like to send her. What a wonderful thing. If only the whole world opperated on that level.

By the way - to the someone who sent her flowers...there was no card... but we know it was one of you...and they are GORGEOUS!! Really brighten up the room.

Please have a good weekend folks...

Love, REG

More prayers & vibes headed her way. John the folks club guy sounds like a neat guy. That sounds like a neat folk club. Wish they had something like that around here...
