...that I walked down that aisle in a little church on the edge of Purdue University's campus and married my best friend. No regrets.
At that time, (1975) I had moved out of the dorm after finishing my last classes for my degree at Ball State University on Tuesday 18th , there was a wedding shower with my mom's friends on Wed., the rehearsal and dinner was on Thursday, and the wedding was that Friday. Our wedding date appears on my college diploma.
Up until the 21st, we had been having gorgeous, mild fall weather in Indiana. On the 21st, it started out sunny and mild, then went to rain, then sleet and snow.
I had originally wanted the wedding to be on the 22nd, but we had to plan it for the 21st because too many people (including most of my family!!) had tickets for the Indiana University-Purdue University football game on the 22nd. In Indiana, you DO have to check football /basketball schedules before you plan any event.
Being poor students, (Jim didn't graduate from Purdue until that next May) ....we drove to the Washington, DC area and spent the week in a cheap motel in Chevy Chase, MD, taking in the (free! ) sights at all the museums, monuments, and other sights in the VA area. It is amusing that we now live in No. VA, with DC being about 24 miles away.
Life with Jim has been good...I look forward to growing old with him.

Aww, that was so neat & sweet! What a neat story. Happy Anniversary. And many, more. How I met my Mike was thru a blind date a friend set me up on. Be careful about blind dates. This one lasted about 23 yrs with 20 of them being married lol. Have a great day...

Thanks! We went to Folk Club last night (it's in the large back room of the best local Mexican restaurant, which turns into the Reston-Herndon Folk Club every Tuesday, with the addition of our sound board, mics, lights, monitor etc) and enjoyed our anniversary with a lot of friends that we've known so long, they come under the heading "extended family". A good time was had by all, and my friend Kathleen and I performed a set of three songs that we'd been working on; two we'd done before and one new one we just learned. sue

That folk club sounds like fun! Wish they had something like that in this part of Va but everything good is up in Northern, VA I bet people live there just cuz all the good concerts are there lol. Your folk club friends seemed really nice. Glad you had a good anniversary...

Those people are the best...just like the ones we run into at the Guthrie Center or Arlo concerts! They all love music, support it, and about 70% of the audience at any time are players/performers themselves. It's also a very forgiving venue to play at; no one really cares if you mess something up, which we all have done . It's also a listening venue; no one talks while people are performing. We can seat 70.
We also have wonderful concerts once a month..tonight it's Bernice Lewis. She's terrific; we've had her once before, and I'm looking forward to this concert. We've had some greats on our little stage..Tom Paxton, John McCutcheon, Sarah Lee and Johnny, Bill Staines, Bryan Bowers, (the King of Autoharp!) and we had Dave Van Ronk signed to play, but he passed away before the concert time.
We're one of the longest-surviving folk clubs...we've been around 21 years, and we've been in that room at the Tortilla Factory for 19 years. We're non-profit...anything that comes in goes to keep up our equipment, so every now and then we get new mics, we got a new soundboard a couple of years ago, and we get new cables now and then. People are able to just plug in and play, or be mic'ed and play. The restaurant lets us store our stuff there. We've been the restaurant owner's little community service project for a long time, and we appreciate our home there!

Congrats Sue on the Anniversary thing. Things must be peachy, or you wouldn't be talkin bout it. & I think that's GREAT....

You guys got 10 yrs. on me. I hope to catch up. someday.
