Last night at a lecture at Reading Area Community College, I met my hero. And my hero met Michael.

Way cool, Terrie! I know how exciting this was for you; I've met a few famous musicians & more famous athletes than I can count, but there was only 1 time when I met a celebrity & made it a point to bring a camera & have my picture taken with him---it was when I met Roger Kahn, the author of The Boys of Summer, my favorite book.

I'd love to get my 14-year-old boy to read the way his brother & sister do, but he has no interest whatsoever. He & I have been mentioned & pictured in a book about baseball & also an issue of The Pirate Report---and I can't even get him to read the paragraphs where he's mentioned!

Mark Mathabane (Mah-tah-bah-nay) grew up in apartheid South Africa and escaped in 1978. He wrote in <u>Kaffir Boy</u> about his life there.

He came to the local college the other night to speak about his book(s), his life in South Africa and life here in the US. He wasn't specifically focused on any particular story until he met Michael out in the hallway (I wasn't with him, I was in the lecture hall talking to old friends).

The article in the paper's terrific.
