That sounds appropriate. I'm hungry.

of all the gin joints in all the cities in all the towns in all the world, he had to walk into this one. his silhouette illuminated by the sun low on the horizon. i looked over at him looking at me looking at him looking at me, as his shining spurs chimed in tempo with the creaking wood floor like the slow steady beat of a tribal drum.
like the smoke rising from a freshly struck match, i rose from my seat and bellied up to the bar next to him, our reflections held in a mirror as we looked on.

"is this a restaurant?" he asked matter of fact-ly.

"the name of this thread would seem to indicate so..." said i, "but i can't help but think it's more of a metaphor than something literal...something literal in any case would seem to be stretching it a bit no matter what way you look at it." i continued esoterically,
"..and yet people seem to want something to eat, like pasta."

"that would seem understandable." he interjected.

"which is why," i continued remarkably "i stole, that is, i appropriated larry's replicator...so people could get want they want...or maybe i got it because it would be fun to play with, at any rate something seems odd about food or anything made in a replicator...like it would be missing some sort of essence...still, i wouldn't want to completely turn my back on the possibility...imagine all the people you could feed!"

"that, i would think, would impart it's own essence." he said fittingly.

"...with all this combining of literal and metaphysical of ethereal and temporal of esoteric and mundane...it would seem a sort of cosmic picnic." i said lost in wonder...

"so you could come here to eat a sandwich?" he theorized...

"...or to fly a kite." i noted.

very aptly put as usual oh vivid one.

the water heater has been replaced and surrounding areas have dried out and here i sit at my imaginary restaurant (metaphorically speaking) with no one around for miles...in fact, my own thoughts have drifted far away from here in a sense, while at the same time, here is where i choose to put them as they wander even further away to where i find (one in particular) a central gathering of energies further north of here... i didn't mean for it to happen, but it's as though, like faint whispering winds,
they drew my attention gently and personally...it's hard not to notice.

i imagine to be closer to the mecca physically would have me buzzing hard, which can be great...to just let fly...perhaps going over the top, speechless even, and it wouldn't be the first time...what's rare is finding someone other than yourself looking in on you in the midst of it all, and knowing you're still there...and what's joyous is that anyone has.

well, even in all this talk of astral travel, the phone still has a tendency to ring off the hook...talk to you later...

after three days of fun and music and nothing but fun and music believe me you, i emerged from my restaurant. as i walked out through the saloon doors, i could hear the squeaking of the hinges behind me as the doors swung back and forth...the dawn of a new day beckoned as the morning sun expressed a warm glow over the landscape, "sunshine daydream..." goes the familiar song as i continued along the ever stretching path when i gazed upon what appeared to be (and which was) a burlap sack about yay big with the words "BAG-O-HEMP" stamped on it, beside it a book entitled, "The Story of the Sun, Moon, and Stars" by Agnes, and a sextant.
needless to say, this got my undivided attention, but for every minute of my attention it had, i wondered endlessly what it meant.
"no doubt larry has something to do with it," seemed to be my standard answer for everything, "at least for today," i reasoned.
but no sooner had the case been argued and won in my mind when a gentleman did appear before me and with his right hand raised as if to swear an oath, he did say, "these items three you have found for a reason." followed by a blank stare into nothingness... which i presumed was my cue to probe further, "and what reason might that be?"
"when the time comes, you will know." was his reply.
i wondered to myself who could be in charge of appointing persons to duties of making such useless announcements, but no sooner had i had the thought when i found myself once again alone on the path...
...and alone i was, no one around for as far in either direction as i could see...so i gathered up the "items three" and put them in the well crafted flaxen satchel i now seemed to have strapped over my shoulder. "if nothing else," i thought to myself, "i do feel more inclined to keep these things handy." however puzzling a journey it seemed to denote...

edited again because i got my sextons mixed up. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

I knew this restaurant would be popular and have a strange and eclectic menu.
Rumor has it, that the food critic for " The Rolling Blunder Review" will rate it 4 stars in the next issue!

The food critic for the RBR doesn't use stars. I hear he gave Agnes' Restaurant the excellent rating of four cub reporter pencils, though.

Why yes Mikey, that's true. But did you know that the same pencils were used by the food editor as chop sticks?
And did you also know that You can do anything you want at Agnes'Restaurant.........so long as Agnes ain't watchin'?

...after some shared laughs and a few beers from apparently out of nowhere and back again, i walked on in silence and solitude...when all of a sudden BOOM! lightening split the sky in two with the smell of ozone filling the air which hung soaked and heavy as thunder rolled overhead. rays of sun broke through black rolling thunderheads while steam rose up from the ground. a heavy mist diffused a momentary burst of sunlight moments before the storm clouds collided and rain spilled from the sky...
of all the houses i could see i decided the closest one was the best and made a beeline for it. the house sat neatly at the crest of a small hill and behind it only sky. the front door looked small by comparison, and inviting. just as i was about to raise my hand to knock however, the door cracked open. i was taken momentarily off guard and watched closely as a women revealed herself from behind the vagueness. in one sweeping movement she hurried me in and closed the door behind me leaving the ruckus from the storm outside.
it was a breathless wonder to be standing there soaked from the rain and under the invigorating circumstances of having been thrust into the familiar company of a complete stranger...
