All I can say is “WOW”

Well… maybe that’s not ALL I can say!

Wayne (HomerJ) and I went to NYC on Thursday to see the US Premiere of the “LORD OF THE RINGS Fellowship of the Ring</FONTc>” at the Ziegfeld Theater on 54th Street. Got the whole 'Red Carpet' treatment and everything!

I had heard all sorts of good things about the movie, but was holding my judgement until I had the chance to see it for myself. At this point, I can wholeheartedly say that this is an EXCELLENT interpretation of Tolkien’s book. The second and third movies are already filmed, and will be released over the next two years… I can’t wait to see them too!

The movie is very fast-paced, as you might imagine, because there is so much to cover in two hours and fifty-eight minutes, but I didn’t feel that anything critical was missed. The producer opted to begin the film with a voice-over explaining how Bilbo came to have the Ring, so even those who have not read the books would have the necessary background.

The effects were great… you really believed that the Hobbits were only about 4’ tall, while the humans were normal-sized. The costuming and makeup for the creatures such as the orcs was marvelous. And in the segments where Frodo was wearing the ring, and able to see the “other side” was extremely well-done. The scene where the Ring-Wraiths attempt to cross the river was exactly as I’d envisioned it.

All in all, I was impressed, and I’d highly recommend this movie to all but young children… I think the effects might be a bit much for the younger set. (Maybe when it comes out on video, on small screen, I’d let my six- and eight-year old grandkids see it.)

Meanwhile, Wayne and I are waiting until Wednesday, to see it again… first day of general release…

Peace, Love, Music & Hobbits!

I gotta see this flick! But I can tell you without even seeing it, that OUR Arlonet Wizard can kick the ass of any wizard they got!

Wayne....red carpet treatment.....I didn't think they did stuff like that for blunderite types? Did he go in disguise??
