Oh k i get the hint. BLUNDER BOARD=acceptable posts for poetry, Arlo's Restaurant=dissing poetry is possible.
So here it is, the poem i posted on Arlo's Restaurant since I have been told to do so by many an Arlonetzien. Now i know better, I guess...anywho, anyone feelin' creative jump right in & join me! I always love a silly poem or 2.
Oh k so maybe i'm just weird...lol.
c'mon, it'll be fun!!
here's my try at it...

Ode To A Hippie.

He don't want no pickles,
just 32 cents.
Never does he claim to make too much sense.
He loves his guitar
and his family too.
Oh Arlo Guthrie,
how we love you!
His fans they do Blunder,
and like to sing along
to songs about things
some 18 minutes long!
He doesn't like war
We think he socks might be red.
He has long silvery hair,
a-top his wise head.
Dylan-esqe when he sings,
chuckling when he talks.
Listening to his stories
feel like taking nice walks.
He's an icon of all who
love peace and ideals.
To Arlo our hero;
may your bus
keep rollin' them wheels!

glad you got the hint...but dissing is possible anyway, for anything.

ok, I'll play too......

"He looks like an aging hippie
who's traveled north and south
and when he speaks, interrupts himself
profundities come outta his mouth,
he talks in florid paragraphs, annotaed prose
he'll start out with topic "A"
and off on a ramble, he goes
His songs are living history
stories of this land,
some personal & deep
but many understand
he brings out experiences some of us have had
what it's like to be alone, or to be a proud dad
He travels & plays with his kids, I mean, how cool is that?
Imagine the tales their kids will tell
about where his head was at
He tells us "dont idolize, hell, don't even believe"
then pulls another pearl of wisdom out of his pickin sleave
the times, they are a changin
times of uncertainty and fear
but the world's a more loving place,
with Arlo around, to hear"

Hey Arlo......PPPPTTTWWWTTTHHHP, so there....

Arlo may say that but don't forget that music itself IS poetry, the only way music differs is that the lyrics almost always rhyme, and this is poetry with melody. So HA! Still love ya Arlo, but I gotsta speak the truth.
And if i get dissed for writing silly poetry, i would love people to take a look at some of the stuff they write from time to time and tell me how it's no different.
Also I STILL don't think it's inappropriate to post poetry on the Arlo's Restaurant board, as it clearly states that anything related to arlo, weird or serious is welcome...but hey, that's just me...
Bumper-NICE poem, me likes it a lot.
COme you creative Blunderers, I know you got it in you!!! Have some fun with this...

thanks, shannon, i agree, about where what is posted, too, that's pretty arbitrary, & I've never understood people getting all worked up, about it

Shannon you better be carefull the next time you F..up the message board police will come to your house and spank you. Right Bumper???Personally I find it ludicrous that you're being ridiculed for not conforming to catagorization on the net site of man who has made a career out of non-conforming and has even (I think)written a few tunes about such. Whatever you do DON'T pay any attention to these folks, the prozac will be taking effect soon.

"AS I went walkin, I saw a sign there, & on that sign it...said 'no tresspassin',and on the other side, it didn't say nothin', THAT side was made for you & me..."
Woody, on posting in apprropriate arlo.net topics.. heeheheheh

Hey Gary & Bumper;

Thanks so much for the encouraging, and very humerous words! I doubt Arlo would have a problem with a poetry post, so why should the f**king blunderites??!!

I just don't understand. But maybe it is like Gary said, the prozac just hasn't taken effect yet =)

Either way I am still continuing to encourage poetry about Arlo, or Woody, or folk or peace or whatever, and I hope some more creative and PLEASANT blunderites that don't have a creativity complex will post their own woids of wizdum.
In the meantime you 2, keep on truckin', and don't let the bastards get you down!!!

Creativity complex? If we were all poets, who would listen to the poems? We're all creative in different ways. My brain cell happens to lack the poetry writing electron, but it has the poetry appreciation one. Rhyme away! Go for it! I haven't seen one post saying you shouldn't, and quite a few encouraging the idea.

Bumper,

You're right--trespassing is of course a given right in the blunderworld. Anyone can post anywhere (but of course Dave can move the post).

I didn't see anyone tell Shannon she HAD to move her poetry. I saw some rather gentle suggestions offered in the spirit that she probably didn't know there already was a place for poetry.

I'm just an old hippy trying to blunder forward through the fog, and it helps if stuff is sort of near other stuff like it, or I can't find it too well.

I think this is mostly much ado about nothing, or as adg said, "There is much to ponder but not much worth pondering." On with the poetry!

cool, ceashel & shannon, the, "oh, where to post, so I'm doing the right thing" dilemma, isn't the pressing issue of the day. Larry & I have identified an applied philosophy of "selective obliviosity" i e. if I get a response to a post, of mine that seems a bit
"retentive in the derierre" i read the spaces, between the words & gaze at the cute white clouds, to the left, & keep on steppin....

Hi..yeah..what Ceashel said. Some people suggested it, no one said Shannon had to move it. I'd guess that as long as it remained Arlo poetry it would have been more than fine with Dave to have it in the Arlo forum. If it got onto more generalized poetry or wandered off into some other area altogether, then he'd probably want it moved.

Oh my GOD!!! I have to use that in a sentence today. Bumper you totally rock. Oh k so now I sound like a valley girl poet on marry wanna. (sigh)...lol. Still that's an excellent quote!!!

As for no one having "told" me I "had" to move my posts somewhere else, no no one outright TOLD me, but the hints were not in any way subtle. I guess that's what blunderites are for. lol.
Still, I stand by my feeling that I can post any where at any time. But now this post on Arlopoetry has turned into a poetry rant rather than actual poems. On with the creativity!
but thanks all, for replying

And btw, we're ALL f**cking blunderites
