We're driving thru Louisiana and stopped in Shreveport in the evening. The tour busses loaded up in the morning to head down to New Orleans. The GPS doesn't handle low clearance bridges very well and there's lots of train tracks crisscrossing the streets overhead. So I thought I'd just ask someone how to get out of town leaving the roofs of the busses in tact.

There was a guy standing on the sidewalk with a guitar strapped over his shoulder, who looked somewhat familiar. I had the bus stop and we all got out. I walked over to the gentleman with the guitar and said "Excuse me, but how do you get outta town from here?" The man didn't say a word. He just was pointing down the street. I asked again "Are you sure it's not 'that' way? or maybe 'this' way?" Not a word came from the stranger with the guitar. He just kept pointing. I said "We're going to New Orleans to play at the Jazz Festival. I'm gonna do some Lead Belly songs. He's from here ya know!"

I noticed a hint of a smile on his stone cold face. But he just kept pointing.

I think he was just tryin' to reach out and touch somebody! Mission accomplished.

I was flyin' on Delta to North Carolina in April and a little boy was in the seat behind
me....as we were flying we hit some turbulance so the pilot announced that he was
asending to rise above it for us to all "HANG ON" so we got stuck in all that white
cloud stuff and the little guy behind me became concerned....after about 10 minute's
of seeing white out the plane window's he announced "hey, tell the driver we are
suppose to go to Georgia NOT the North Pole where Santa lives! he yelled out

"Hey tell the plane driver- turn around at the next gas station go South NOT North"

I guess we all get confused at any AGE ***

That is so cool! Love that pic. Arlo must be the only guy who asks for directions. Mike wouldn't.

We went to a Birchmere gig in Alexandria, VA near DC a few yrs back. I made the mistake of asking the clerks at the hotel if there was an easier and quicker way of getting to the Birchmere withhout going on the interstate. Big mistake. Always use your interstate directions and never what foreign clerks tell you. Trust me alot of the locals esp the foreigners bless there hearts do not know how to get to anywhere up there and if they do the directions are wrong lol. I followed their directions and ended up the wrong way on King Street. I told Mike lets stop at a gas station I see along the road. Nope he said we don't need to. I wish I hadn't listened to him. But I did cuz I had drove down King street and had gotten lost there before and thought I could worm my way to where I needed to go. Wrong. I kept on going and ending up in frickin Maryland! So I turned and went the direction that looked like it might take me back. Ended up in DC during rush hour. YUCK!!!! I fianlly made it to Vienna, VA where Wolftrap Park is. I've been there tons of times to see Arlo. So I went back on I-95 South and turned around at the Manassas, VA exit which I have been to before. And then I went the right way that I should've gone to begin with. I was 30 frickin minutes late to the show. YUCK!!!! Never again did I go any other way but my trusty interstate directions. I told Mike never again will I listen to you and not stop at a gas station for directions. Gah, I miss going there with Mike. We had so many wonderful times going to see Arlo. So many adventures.

Have a good trip Arlo. :) Jackie was smart marrying a man who would ask for directions. :)

Is it just me, or does Arlo look a bit like the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy first meets him? All he needs is a hat and a little straw around the edges.
