Just returned home from seeing "Guthrie Family Rides Again" here in Houston at the Miller Outdoor Theater.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!!!!!

What a fantastic show and a bit of American music history all rolled into one. If you get a chance DO NOT miss this show. My life is a little closer to being complete having seen it.

Thank you Guthries on and all. :)

Welcome to another Texan on Arlonet! We're not a big group, but Texan Blunderites make up for that in other ways. If you liked the show that much, you might consider going to WoodyFest; see the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival website. It would be great to see you there!--Shelley

Hiya Shelley,

I've always wanted to go to the Woody Fest. I was telling some friends today, this might be the year I finally go. :)

Greybeard, if you're thinking about going to WoodyFest, your accommodation choices are motels in surrounding towns or camping. If a motel, you would be wise to snag a reservation very, very soon. Like NOW, kid! (You can always cancel if you decide not to go.) The motels aren't expensive AT ALL--they're pretty basic--but they book up very early. If you can get one in Henrietta, it's not too far from Okemah. (All motel rooms in Okemah are taken up by the festival, for the performers.) They have an excellent campground with showers and swimming pool access. I think it's $10 for that. Just thought you should know.

BTW, your screen name indicates that you would blend right in with this group.

Went to the show in Austin, took my whole family - my son who is named after Arlo - of you could say he is named after the Guthrie family - his middle name is Guthrie. It was a great show.

Wasn't it fun! Sorry we didn't meet you there. Maybe next time he comes through we can.
