P.S. - Some of those lines are also to be found in Taj Mahal's "She Caught the Katy" (and left me a mule to ride)

"in spite of ourselves, we'll end up sittin' on a rainbow
against all odds honey, we're the big door prize
we're gonna spite our noses right off of our faces
there won't be nuthin' but big ol' hearts dancin' in our eyes"---john prine/in spite of ourselves

pure poetry

Agnes' post of John Prine's song made me think of Jane Monheit's Over the Rainbow version. If you haven't heard it, check it out.

Here's a version, that my wife, and our friend,, known around these parts as Wyldflower saw, on the Hudson near Albany. I was surprized to find it on youtube. the guy that shot the video was sitting next to us.

Happy Valentines day kids! Mike used to try to mimic that Tiny Tim song. He said in high school because of it and the fact he was short, the kids nicknamed him Tiny Mike...

And all alone the prophet groans with words as yet unseen. Only the words of love kept alive are worthy of not being wasted.
