It seems to me you should not be punished twice ...that is , it is not the school's place to punish you. That is what the courts did. Perhaps the school has a policy that anyone convicted of a crime and still on probation must have an interview prior to admission? Either way, you paid - or are paying - for your mistakes through the justice system, and should not also have to pay through denial into an academic institution!

Good Luck with your higher education - just keep the higher part to your aspirations and not to your inhalations! I know you will be fine and if this is not the right time or place, you will surely find that when it is.

Just read of your circumstances, I am hopeing and praying all goes well for you, and I think it should.
Sounds like you got railroaded into accepting a plea without all the facts being given to you (by the lawyer). It also sounds like a pretty stiff sentence for what you did.
Several years ago my younger brother was busted for growing Pot on his property(stupid kid). Any way he didn't get anything near to the sentence you did. A small fine, 1 year probation. That was it.
Back to the issue at hand , I truly hope you get the results you want. Continuing your education is one of the best things I ever did, and had a absolute blast doing it, while maintaining a 98 grade average.
I loved every second, except graduating and it was over.

It really is time to change the marijuana laws in this country. They turn too many into criminals who otherwise wouldn't be and the rest of us into victims because of it. It is pervasive and there is no persuasive arguments that society suffers for any other reason than it's status as an illegal substance.

Time to drop the hypocrisy and put it on the shelf next to the Jack Daniels.

That being said and on a previous note, rb, I wanted to tell you a quick story about a lawyer I know who had many cases in the State supreme court, knew all the judges and was a very close friend and next door neighbor to us. His children were an incredible source of pride to him. His oldest son scored higher on the SAT for math than anyone had ever in our state, and was awarded a full ride at MIT. His second son was an Olympic cyclist on the 86 and 90 teams. His daughter was an accomlished ballerina, graduated with honors in Engineerning undergrad and Law school at U of Mich.,and his third son went on to become the president of his father's faternity at the dad's Alma Mater.

One can only imagine the horror of this father the day this son was arrested for 3rd degree murder.

The father did have the connection to get his son off, as you said in your post. They had the money, knew the right judges and still choose to let his son go to prison for one year in Marion Ohio.
The son today is a successful businessman, but must disclose on every application that asks, have you ever been convicted of a felony? This his father could have prevented - using his influence ( strings) and choose not to indeferenece to the dead child's family. It was a case of college kids at a wedding, and involved a car accident that resulted in the death of person. That was a line the lawyer would not cross , regardless of the lifelong penalties his son would carry-long after his time was paid.

MG: More folks auta, step up to the plate and take responcility for they're actions. As in my case, I maybe have beat myself up too much, for whatever crime the DEA says I committed. But I've spent many a sleepless night, contemplating what I have put my family thru, ntm: thanking the lord above my Mom had passed, and didn't have to live thru my ordeal. She died an unexpected death at it was. Me being in my troubles, surely might have killed her. An aufull thing to think about. Jesus, the only good thing about my blunder, is Ma will never know about it? My Dad is 87 and much more liberal thinking than me Mom. But my Mom woulda lost allot more sleep about this than I. And not to sound repetitive, but that was one of the only things, I had to be gratefull for. At least Mom won't know. But in an odd way, I think she does, and is pulling some strings for me, to get some positive reactions, outta a bad situation.


Just in my six mnths. of house arrest alone, I missed my Grandauther Zoee being born... Probation would in NO WAY let me leave the state. Six mnths later, I drove to Illinois to meet my then 6 mnt. old Grandaugter for the first time... ntm" one of my bestest friends in the world died from complications of Emphazema... I couldn't even go to his funeral, as I was on house arrest at the time. My wife called my probation officer, and called her a 'heartless, cruel hearted woman, and told her she prays to God everyday, that her day comes, and may she rot in hell!!!! I really felt bad, as I couldn't be there for my eldest boys friend ( Marcus's son ) who had come home asap, from Iraq to bury his Dad. Eric the son, knows how much I missed his Dad, and thought it a bad rap, for me not to be a paul bearer....

In re-reading everything I've been thru, I hate the legal system like, no other man can. They are unfair, cruel, and will laugh in your face, when you think you have rights..... All they told my wife Sue, *when she was calling them heartless bastards, that my husband missed the birth of his grandauther, and going to his best friend funeral.... " My P.O.'s relpy. "Well he couldn't do that, if her were in Jail... ( house arrest is supposed to immitate Jail....

I now know, why people who've been fucked over by the legal system, go out and create more crimes. It's to suck up the loss you have to burden..... I chose not to take that attitude. But I do understand, how someone could just go rambo, because they got fucked so bad without the vasoline ( as my ol attorney puts it ) that the feel they have to get even...
