Actually, Tom Paxton wrote the song, but it's perfect for the economic events of the last few weeks. Thanks for posting it---great video!!!

well it is a Republican Administration that is trying the tactics put in place by FDR last time the bottom totally fell out and greed destroyed the economy! Will it work? All the pundits are weighing in! Why I only heard just yesterday the old "there are some real deals on stocks in a low market like this". Yet somehow I feel my retirement is just slipping away! Don't worry folks, your insured up to $100,000! and that's a lot of cheeseburgers! (as long as you got $100,000 laying around in one of them insured accounts) And to make that happen, your Goverment is willing to prop up any dumb ass group of arrogant businessmen that might be screwing you with a fountain pen in a thousand other ways before they take what they can get and pull out (or maybe it is dissociate themselves) as their unsound foundation begins to crack! One thing for sure, oil and militarism are still a good investments! That is what we need a good war bond program! come on GW, wake up and start selling shares in the war outright!!! Eventually you will get back $1.25 for ever dollar you invest in the war! Shit, everybody would be onboard with shooting everything that moves and we can all retire and holiday in them exotic locales that have been "cleaned out in the name of democracy"! Imagine all us old Americans sunning on the bank of the Euphrates and eating cheeseburgars and drinking ice cold Budweiser (wait, not an American Beer anymore) and drinking Ice Cold Coors served by the grateful remnants and newly democratized and chistianized Iraqi citizens. Now that is the good life and the way it is supposed to be! America on top, cheeseburgers and Ice Cold Beer!

There is your campaign McCain! Come on John, why not hire me as your Campaign consultant and I will get even these peace loving liberal Arlonet Junkies voting for you! I will even get Ceashel to say nice things about you and Larry to get his photo taken hugging GW....Let me see...that will cost you about ...let me see....I need about $10 million in salary for me and about.....Larry hugging GW and Ceashel campaigning for McCain (Jesus, what have I gotten into??) ok ok ... (little adding machine sounds crunching numbers in my head)

John, that will cost about One Trillion Dollars in campaign expenses. Now don't freak out, it is worth it. Hell, that is less than the cost of a dirty little war or bailing out massive corporate blunders! Just think of it as a sound business investment! If you fork over the dough I will make you the greatest most beloved President since Millard Fillmore!

... bail outs suck... but there is an opportunity... that some folks in Congress are trying to get attached to the bailouts.... to require big money to ease up on the consumers that they are currently screwing.... like Freddie Mac can have money if they stop/reduce foreclosing so quickly....

if they don't do that.... it's taxpayer money paying big corps (with well heeled ceo's) to continue to screw taxpayers....

now that's a song... :?

They'll figure out a way to screw that up too---even a sure investment like war. A 25% return will eventually not be enough for them, so they'll start short-selling and sub-priming and cooking books. When the pyramid collapses there will be no one left to bail them out but the Chinese, who have already loaned us the money that we are bailing out corporations with now.
Also, GW may be an idiot, but do you think he would want to be seen hugging Larry???

GW and McCain sound like the new leaders of a socialist organization, whose goal is to nationalize credit unions. A few weeks ago they would laugh at country leaders who advised them to put stricter rules on the banks by saying keep away with these old fashioned rules and by saying "Money talks and we are talking about big money here". Now they are putting how many trillions of dollars into saving those banks and have the guts to ask for these other countries money in support. Whereas the German KfW-Bank (credit union for reconstruction and development, bank belonging to the state and supposed to give cheap loans to small industries to help them invest or build new businesses) was so nice to remit 300 Million € (about 450 Million $) to Lehmann on Monday after their bancruptcy was announced in the news on Sunday. 2 Topmanagers were suspended, and in case they have to go, they won't go emptihanded. 8)

Republicans change their colors faster than lizards, especially these days. If it suited their needs, they'd be telling everybody that comunism is a good idea without a second thought or conflict in their thinking.
