Apologies to all who have (once again) started receiving multiple copies of e-mail sent out to the Guthrie Center mailing list. The first time this happened a few weeks ago it was due to a stuck process on the server. I have again contacted the web hosting technical support and am working with them to try and resolve this issue once and for all. Unfortunantly, this is one of those situations where I don't have the access required to the server to be able to investigate or solve this problem - I have to rely on their support. I can say that the original trouble ticket has been re-opened and higher level techs are looking into this issue. I will post an update here with any findings. Once again, apologies for the multiple copies sent out.

Always an adventure... :)

-Dave

Just received the following from our webhosting technical support... I've been checking with the throughout the day today.

Quote:
9:37 PM Eastern - I have restarted the services on the server, and will be monitoring your domain to make sure the issue does not start up again. There may be some built up e-mails that were stuck in the queue while the issue was occurring, you may get a message or two while the queue is emptied out.

Thank you all for your patience! This is an issue that they severely needed to address because it is taking up their resources as well... since if you figure there are over 2400 people on the list - and I think I got about 20 copies... that's close to 50,000 e-mails their server is sending out. Can't make them very happy either.

Anyway, once again - sorry for the inconvenience!

Should I be offended that I didn't get any of the flood of e-mails? I know I'm paid up on my membership; George said so.

Just got off the phone once again - the issue was still occurring. The trouble ticket has been re-opened is now in Level II support. The maillist has been disabled. If the problem continues there is a Level III support person ready. If the problems resolves - I was told they would look into the underlying issue of why this is happening.

I've been paid up as well but have received no correspondence at all... In fact, I was'nt given an opportunity to purchase tickets for Arlo's birthday bash this July.

Is there a problem Dave/George?

Maybe you could give George a call at the Center.

The Guthrie Center mailing list (e-mail) has nothing to do with membership - anyone and everyone can sign up to be on the list. Anything relating to membership - best contact George at the Guthrie Center.

does this mean that you HAVE to actually "sign up" for the email list? I know I had put my email addy on a list george had at one of the gigs a while back... and I'm one of the fortunate people who gets inundated with emails every now and then.

Well, due to the reconstruction of the Guthrie Center website - the web interface is gone... but you can still sign up:

To subscribe, send an e-mail to "guthriecenter-subscribe@arlo.net"
To unsubscribe, send an e-mail to "guthriecenter-unsibscribe@arlo.net"

You should get an autoreply confirming your action.

Not just yet though because the list is disabled as they look into the problem... I hope to have an update on Monday - but since they disabled the list, the e-mails have at least ceased.
