I would like to know how to make these. Does anyone know? I figure I can make a career out of this. I'm worn out trying to keep up with all the technology and software application stuff I need to learn every day. At least I can admire my Clampoons at the end of each day. Maybe even add some Clampoon gear to inventory for sale to Clampoonersss. Thanks in advance for the info...

OK so I got the first step. Sounds great but the giant clams might get me before I make my first prototype. Huh?

Arlo used to bring one on stage with him in the old days, at least I saw that once back in the 70's. I think he used a regular harpoon and called it a clampoon, which is either a case of confusion, creativity or the folk process........or maybe some bits of each?

The basic idea of a clampoon is that it comes out looking like one of those "shrimp cocktail" wooden forklets which, in turn, vaguely resemble a trident (like Neptune's).

In order to clampoon the clams properly, one goes out on the beach carrying some lemon juice, cocktail sauce, and horseradish; the clams see this, surrender, and immediately jump into your clamtainer, so that the clampoon is never actually needed.

Thanks for the input Mike and Larry. I'm thinking then an 8 foot 2 x 4 with a spear on one end and a cocktail fork on the other. Then I go to the beach with the cocktail sauce, lemon, and horseradish plus oyster crackers for the wait for the giant clams. I was also thinking now about putting melted butter on some smooth surface that I take with me so maybe the clams slip and fall off their little feet and I won't have to hurt them, but I'll take the clampoon with me 'cause I'll feel safer. I guess I'll need a truck or something to get all this stuff where it is needed. Is there a special king of vehicle to haul all the clampooning stuff to the beach? This is getting involved but interesting!!

Of course! You must always use a VW microbus to transport implements of destruction (and/or consumption?)!

A clampoon will fit in a VW microbus, but there ain't a chance that a GIANT CLAM would. You need one of those big treaded vehicles that they move the space shuttle around with for the clam.

I haven't made the clampoon yet nor have I acquired any of the gear but a plan with specificity is beginning to present itself. The VW Microbus will hold all the gear thanks to input from Larry and Ceashell. When I get to the beach with the gear and condiments (credit to Larry and Mikey) I will take a looonnnnnnggggggg walk on the beach with a pedal steel guitar, yet to be acquired, per instruction from Wyldflower. Since a giant clam won't fit in the microbus and space shuttle transport vehicle is beyond anything that could be obtained in my lifetime due to inadequate financing I figured I would just have to form some kind of alliance to eat the giant clams right at the point of destruction, with implements, and subsequent consumption, with implements (credit for implements to Ceashell). Now I am not sure what to call the alliance and perplexitiy remains as I am beginning to form a picture of frenzied behavior by this alliance... Could there be singing involved too?

Skip, if you do find a need to relocate your mollusk for consumption after capture, and you can't aford to buy one of those giant treaded space shuttle moving machines, remember that the Russian space program has been having some auctions that could put a smile on the face of a bargain/clam hunter! If that doesn't work, try E-bay......some janitor at NASA may steal one and sell it on the sly. Besides, you could never eat a GIANT CLAM in one sitting anyway......or even two for that matter.

really doesn't matter much where you consume the clam... what matters is copious amounts of Guinness and chonklit cake are present... that will insure Larnie and all his friends a meal that can't be beat...

I thought that one person could consume a giant clam...as long as they did it during the National Clampoon Hour...of course you would still need copius amounts of CHONKLIT CAKE and Guinness...
