If them was Afghanistan yams, then that's okay. Afghanistan folks dont' need Afgan yams. Theyre' too high-maintenance.

Hmmm, I'm bewildered, and a dollup confused...are Yams a southern thang? I wouldnt know a yam, if I tripped over one, and, I have a pretty ecclectic palette...I'm yamafied, here...

'scuse me, Bumper? True yams are a staple food on most Caribbean islands. Must be time for you to go soak up some island kulchur. Strictly speaking, yams is yams and sweet potatoes is sweet potatoes, but in the U.S., we do often call sweet potatoes yams. Here's a good resource on what they are, and the differences:
