Hi dear Blunderfriends... still kickin' here...

"You can't teach an old dog new tricks"
author unknown

"He not busy being born is busy dying"
B Dylan

throughout my formative years, my Dad would counter every 'FOLK PLATITUDE WITH AN OPPOSITE ONE...if my Mother would say, (& she sometimes did)..."Many hands make light work" my Dad would grin & say "Too many cooks spoil the broth"
I think it was his natural Midwestern sense of existential Zen, at work... over the years, these opposing homilies taught me the degree to which Life happens, without apparent logic or continuity.
Last July, Nanna, a woinderful woman who I cared for for 5 years, died, her body gave out after 88 years, she left in the cruel fog of altzheimer's, but with the indomitable spirit of a Wyoming Plains matriarch.
Her son, Bill, my best friend, who had dedicated his life to Nanna's care & well being, for the last 15 years, died last Tuesday of Melanoma of the brain stem.
Bill was the Wagonmaster of our adventure from N Cal, to South Florida, last November
Bill enoyed about 5 weeks of retired life, where he wanted to be, and even got the Chrysler Sebring Convertable, he always wanted.. Twice, Bill & his daughter Betty & I cruised hwy A1A, in full moonlight, top down, watching condos & stars roll by, enjoying the balmy tropical breezes,
Melanoma dropped Bill like a gunshot, he went from a vibrant, active, big kid, of 63 years, to an invalid, communicating only with his blue eyes, in a heartbreaking version of his Mother's condition.
Betty & I are moving on now... she to stay w/ her brother, in Tenn, & me to live with a dear friend in San Diego.
The love & memories of Nanna & Bill Connor will be a big part of me in the years I have left. Bill asked that I take some of his ashes to Montserrat with me, someday. Bill only knew Montserrat thru my tales of living there for a year, in the late 80's...I showed Bill a slide of where I'd want my ashes scattered, & Bill said "O.K., but pick a good spot, cuz I know you'll still loose the remote control & stael my lighter"

Hey RCH... how do I get tickets for Sarah Lee & Johnny at Epcott???. I'm outta here, via I-75, gonna make it, somehow... I promised Bill I'd ask Sarah Lee & Johnny to sing a song for him....

See ya soon, Ceashel & Cliff, prob aroiund the 14th of June, or so, cool?? any other Blunderites along I-10...?

Bumper called yesterday morning from the French Quarter in NOLA. Didn't sound like he was being oblivious to anything--taking it all in and having a great time! If all goes as planned, he'll be here tonight on his latest coast-to-coast odyssey.

Tell him I said "Hey!" and that he owes you all a big hug and kiss from me (and right back at him, too).

Hope you all enjoy the visit!

All did NOT go as planned (big surprise for a Blunderite cross-country trip!). Encountered major road construction, and then took the wrong turn and circumnavigated Houston. He will be here tomorrow night. Bumper says I am to report that Houston is not flat, as common knowledge would tell you; it is round.
