Well for those of you folk that haven,t heard the Canadian Government has decided to decriminalize small amounts, well kind of small(1 oz) of marijuana. This will mean you will get a fine instead of tying up court time and cost,s and possibly do time(always been lighter penaties here then most states)
The government might actually make some money out of this instead of spending over $150 per day per prisoner for their keep.
LOL,,,a American friend I was recently chattin with said we should get ready for a influx of aging Hippies immigrating from the U.S.A.hehehehehe
Please keep in mind I live in a very small place....and I definately am not a morning person until after my coffee and meds kick in...
--------------------------------------------
OUR GOVERNMENT IS TOTALLY STONED

Our stupefied federal government will pass a law decriminalizing posession of an ounce of pot. This will be possibly one of the less inane things our supposedly straight-laced, sober-thinking legislators have done this year. What inane things you may ask?

Firstly we just found out that if a shootin' war starts, our air force hasn't any bombs. We used them all up in Kosovo, and it seems someone forgot to reorder them. We'll have to drop moral indignation and cow cookies on Iraq when the shooting starts I suppose. "Vern, how could ya dun ferget ta order the gal-dang bombs"?

Was someone a little "wasted" in National Defence?

Secondly, we have been told that we don't have enough ships to patrol the Grand Banks to protect our fisheries. Sending that one ship to the Gulf seems to have been one too many I guess.

As I write this I'm sure the Portuguese and Spanish fleets are having fervid orgies with much sex and accordion playing in our waters, now that our backs are turned, and get this, we're not invited!

Someone in coastal defence a little zonked on Mary Jane perhaps? A little too much reefer madness maybe Mr. McCallum?

Lastly, a program to register guns, which was supposed to pay for itself, cost us a few hundred times the estimate made by the prissy gadfly Allan ( I musta got the decimal in the wrong place ) Rock. Do you think Allan inhaled when he was younger? I'll betcha he smoked half o' Jamaica and Acapulco to boot.(the estimated cost of a million is up now somewhere around a billion and a lot have not registered)

All of the above presided over by our lovable and totally "bent moron" J.C.(prime minister)

If he and Bush were to have a game of Trivial Pursuit, they'd be well into the second week of play before either one would claim a piece of the pie . . . by accident.

So don't worry that the Liberals are about to decriminalize small quantities of pot in the land that stands on guard for thee ( as long as our boat isn't away in the Gulf ). It is the least obtuse thing a totally stoned government has done this session.

In closing, allowing small amounts of weed won't make users any stupider. They could never be as stupid as those who lead us.

As the old proverb goes in the second book of Hezekiah, "if our wise counselors smoketh the vile and evil weed, the people will longeth for the time their gums shall blacken and their foreskins will fall off with mighty vengeance and fury, rendering our counsellors impotent to torment us with further foolish laws" . . . I hope.

James Hagarty

Does this mean that your problems with previous "criminal activities" will no longer be considered a problem when you want to come to the States for an Arlo show????

Meanwhile... I'll make the coffee... heehee!

Sparkydon, Please don't ask me how I know this but, after five years, (maybe less now) you can apply for a pardon for your crimes, if during that period you have not commited any new crimes. The cost is about $300, and takes only about a month.....This is true in BC, but I think the law is the same across Canada........once pardoned, the crime never happened and you records are cleared, even the R.C.M.P. will clear your name, it is worth the cost to do so.

Hey Nathen thanks,,,but my understanding is takes longer, costs more and although you do not have the criminal record you can still be refused entry at border,,,
I,m not sure if i posted it some time back ,but there was a story in paper here of some cases, one was a young lady who could not cross, her husband took a job transfer to florida, they bought a house there and when moving day came...guess what?? she could not cross,,,was a criminal. And what was her special crime? mishief..she was charged years before when she was caught stealing a street name sign for a college or university scavenger hunt. They spent several thousand on legal fee,s and took some time before she finally got to Florida.I have had lots of experience dealing with diffrent government agencies here and going by those experiences I would say months is more like it,for some things years. You have to read the story in the thread here about our gov. to understand,,,lol

Well I guess we can expect some glass blowers and other artist,s in Canada soon, thanks to the D.E.A.,s latest move.
They have now effectively shut down the pipe and bong industry, busting many business,s and artists, including Tommy Chong and his Glass company. Some websites have been taken over and "hits" are redirected to the D.E.A.
Without going into the old arguements of it being/NOT being a gateway drug, the medicinal benefits for some, the huge amount of $$ wasted on marijuana busts and incarcerations, the resulting criminal record(which for many is the only "crime" ever committed)....I find this just CRAZY !!!
There are far worse things and crimes going on around us.
Like holy shit you can buy a AK-47 or a silencer or a multitude of deadly weapons online or in a store in the U.S.A !!!
