Hi gang!
Long time no see (so to speak). This is Chris Buerger signing in to update you all on what's been happening to moi. First off I'm back to being a Hoosier (Indiana resident) from being a Bostonian for almost 23 years. Wasn't by choice :-( Then I got diagnosed with severe sleep apnea AND breast cancer (Stage 3B) so my life has been one of great upheaval lately. Even forgot to mail my favorite folksinger a birthday card!! (Sorry 'bout that Arlo---hope it was a happy one...) Anywho, I just wanted to say 'HI' and to ask all of you to say a little prayer (or whatever) for me as I go blundering thru chemo/radiation/mastectomy these next few months. For any who remember me, my email is buergerc@excite.com or buergerc@go.com (I watch both!)

Love, Peace & Banana Splits, Chris

Chris
Sorry to hear about the cancer diagnosis.Just this past June 5 I was diagnosed with lung cancer, matastisized(sp) to lymph nodes, stage 3b.I just started chemo last Friday.I have been having bouts of fatigue, and nausea at night, but I have been able to manage OK.I just have spurts of energy, then need to nap.I was able to make it to a tiny country fair this weekend with grandkids and grown "kids".It was fun, though I was exhausted after. One of my regrets is that my next chemo is scheduled on the same day of the only opportunity I would've had to see Arlo for awhile.Bummer.
I am sending thoughts of healing energy.
If you need to talk,my email is bowil@psouth.net
I am Gary,by the way
never feel alone

I forgot-here are some links that you might find helpful. http://www.cancer.org/docroot/home/index.asp?level=0 http://www.findhealer.com/sentinal/olga.php3
Also,have you considered Reiki?
A friend treats me once a week.It is healing energy.
I wish for the best for you.

Chris--I am a 4 1/2 year breast cancer survivor, so I know something about what you're going through. Mine was caught early--stage 1--and I had a lumpectomy and radiation. It was rough, but I got through it, mostly because of all the support I had from wonderful people all over the planet, especially the people on these boards. Sounds like you've got a good attitude, which makes all the difference in the world. Make sure you take time for yourself, whether you're into formal meditation or just quiet time, and don't be afraid to ask for help from the people who love you. A couple books I'd recommend to you are "The Breast Book" by Dr. Susan Love, which is a definitive book on the subject, and "Breast Cancer" by Steve Austin, N.D. and Cathy Hitchcock, M.S.W.--a husband and wife team who have been through this themselves. Austin is a naturopathic physician, so you get his viewpoint on the subject, but he also gives a well-balanced overview of standard Western treatment, and I found his book extremely helpful.

Good luck to you! Lots of vibes are coming your way!

Healing and soothing blundervibes on the way to you both ... and BTW, long-distance Reiki also works (the same way blundervibes work ... all connected to the same energy force). My mother is a Reiki master and I am 2d degree. I will be happy to add you both to our "long-distance" list, if you'd like. Chris, if you don't know anyone locally, let me know. I'm sure we can find a Reiki healer in your area.

Altho I hate to see people (folks) going thru hard times, it's a great reminder we're not in this alone!!!!

* Judy is one beautiful person. And personally I'd take her advice....<img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>..... Only having met her 3 or 4 times, she's a fond reminder, we are kindred spirits! Again, nice to realize your not alone. Especially in this shit-hole of a world!!! (well it's nice most of the time, but it sure has it's moments. AYE?

Sincerely/RB
