Please forgive us Melanie but "We needed to do what we did to your song"!

Credits:
Wyldflower helped with the French,
All I know is french fries!

Dedication:
This song is dedicated to those Americans who are tired of the American flag being used to cloak the "New World Order" of Corporate/Political greed
HomerJ & Wyldflower

PS: Feel Free to suggest improvements to our Paridy...

Edited to repair poorly stolen lyrics with better quality stolen Lyrics

Original Artist: Melanie Safka
Original Title: Look What They've Done to My Song

Our Title: Look what they've done to my Flag

Look what they've done to my flag, Ma
Look what they've done to my flag
Well it's the only thing I could be proud of
And it's turning out all wrong, Ma
Look what they done to my flag

Look what they've done to my brain, Ma
Look what they've done to my brain
Well they picked it like a chicken bone
And I think I’m half insane, Ma
Look what they've done to my flag

Wish I could find a good leader to believe in
Wish I could find a good leader to believe in
Well if I could find a real leader
I’d never have to come and shout about
What they've done to my flag

La da da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da
La da da la da da, la da da da da da

Look what they done to my heart
But maybe it'll all be alright, Ma
Maybe it'll all be okay
Well if the people are buying tears
I'll be rich someday, Ma
Look what they done to my heart

Ils ont changé mon drapeau, Ma
Ils ont changé mon drapeau
C'est la seule chose que j'ai fière
Et çe n'est pas bon, Ma
Ils ont changé mon drapeau

Look what they've done to my pride, ma
Look what they've done to my pride.
Well they've tied it up in a political rag
and turned it upside down
Look what they’ve done to my pride

Ils ont changé mon drapeau, Ma
Ils ont changé mon drapeau
C'est la seule chose que j'ai fière
Et çe n'est pas bon, Ma
Ils ont changé mon drapeau

Look what they done to my flag, ma
Look what they done to my flag
Well it's the only thing I could be proud of
and they turned it upside down oh Ma
Look what they done to my flag

Thanks for posting that, Wayne...

I only helped a little with the French... but I only took the language in High School, over 30 years ago... so if someone has a better translation for "Look what they've done to my pride" let us know...

It is wonderful...blunderful!
(I think the second verse needs one more line though.)

I believe you are right, I looked at several online lyrics pages and none of them were identical, If someone has the TRUE Lyrics, I would like to make this parody as accurate as possible.
Thanks
HomerJ... Off to Dallas

howdy H & W,

these lyrics (above link) are danged accurate (i mean, aside from perhaps a "la" or "da" missing (maybe) and maybe an extra "ma" used for emphasis left out or whatever...

i've been listening to "the four sides of melanie" today and it's all your fault! one of my favorite songs ever is "lay down (candles in the rain)" (the long version)...besides being just a great song and melanie sounds so good in it, i love the edwin hawkins singers in there. i'm not sure, but i think they do that song, "oh happy day"...you know the one i mean?...a gospel type song.

Yep, the Edwin Hawkins Singers did OH HAPPY DAY which is a great song. I also love Melanies CANDLES IN THE RAIN. Mike has the album with that one on it...
