I always thought it was an odd coincidence how Elvis died on the anniversary of Woodstock...

Congratulations on your award Mr. Sinclaire!
We know that your prize money of $5.00 is a wonderful thing in Tennesee, since that amount of money nearly equals the states annual gross domestic production!

Dear Larry

Thank You for your support, in fact I do think that five dollars in Tennessee is about fifty dollars in somewhere like New York City, here I can get a carton of smokes for about twelve dollars which is just about one pack in NYC, here I can rent a two bedroom house for two hundred and fifty dollars so maybe just maybe it works out in the long run, hmmmmm I wonder if that is one reason so many New Yorkers retire down here, what do you think? Could it be for the all the excitement?

Yours truly

Congrats on winning the ribbon (and the money). While I was on my way to AZ last month, I fell in love with Tennessee... it's the NICEST state I was in, and I think I was travelling thru somewhere around 15 of them. Although you guys really need to do something about your humidity! It's as bad as PA.

Dear Editor:

Buffalo gal wrote "I fell in love with Tennessee... it's the NICEST state I was in, and I think I was travelling thru somewhere around 15 of them.", I am certain that she was referring to how nice the people are here, so how about you writing a few words regarding how narrow mainded yankee dog editors are always giving us so much bad press.

thank you
a nice guy from Tennessee

Dear Silly Hillbilly from Tennesee,

We are sure that you are happy where you are and think it's a nice place, and we would not argue that point. However, we have a policy of not promoting any state to the public, unless that state is willing to supply us with advertising funds. We are in the gnus bizzness you know! Besides that, we really can't say that Tennesee is Ok, because if it were Ok, it would be Oklahoma.

The Editor.

Dear Editor:

My older brother pushed me into deep water to teach me to swim, that part is understandable, but what was the lesson to be learned with the burlap bag and the rocks he included in the bag with me before the start of the lesson?

just wondering in Tennessee

ps. I have found out that I can print out your newspaper on my own paper and read it in the outhouse, it comes in real handy....

note to self, buy softer paper for the printer

Dear JW in Tennessee:

In my experience as an only child, but mother of 6, older brothers, especially oldest children, think that all younger siblings are just figments of their parents' imagination.
Just thinking in Ohio

I actually gnu where you were going with that just before I finished reading it <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

The folks in TN and OK are wonderful. AR also, although that state has the WORST roads (after PA, that is). I found that what I'd heard about "southern hospitality" rings true. I cannot imagine folks up here being nearly as nice.

Even the Kudzu Vine is nice! Neat formations.

Terrie

(edited because that first sentence made no sense whatsoever when I re-read it).

Dear Pat:

As a third child with no children, I thank you for your point of view, but how do you know how to tell the kids to play nice and share?

Dear BuffaloGal:

you said "edited because that first sentence made no sense whatsoever when I re-read it"

and I must ask "it makes sense now? and what about that last sentence?"

wow, two people picked on and not even one nasty word about this cheap rag that Larry calls his newspaper, I must be slipping.

I have applied to the Southern Highland Craft Guild for memebership, it is a juried guild, which should be interesting because I have no idea what a Guild is and/or what a juried membership is, and I am sure I would not enjoy being in any group that would have me for a member. I have been in to one of their stores and my sticks are better then any of the ones they have, but that might be a handicap as whoever is making those sticks would certainly not want my sticks making theirs look bad, but just the same, I was wondering, does anyone know what a Guild is, and what of juried members...Will they be asking for lots of money? Will I be required to act like people (remember I am a poor uneducated country boy) (okay I am old fart from the mountains but the first sounds better)I mean really just what do these people think they are? sitting in judgement of my art? Ha! Okay you guys are right, to hell with membership. thanks for the great advice, Larry this paper of yours now serves two useful purposes. Thank-You

Notice to Pat and BuffaloGal, I do pick on people but I do not mean any insult, I just have limited resourses for entertainment so I pick on Larry's most excellent newspaper and on Larry as a pass time, so please do not be upset with anything I say, and don't tell Larry that I am just kidding him. And thank you for you nice posts.

I am so glad to see someone is Ohio that is thinking. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15> The way drivers were driving in Ohio yesterday, I am beginning to think some of them don't know what they are doing... <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/eek.gif" width=15 height=15>

And for whomever it is that reads this to Nathen, please don't tell him that I'm just kidding him either.

From what I can remember about that post from last night (that was a LONG time ago), I think what I was saying was that I saw where Larry (I think it was, cos it was late) was going with the "Tennessee couldn't be Ok, cos then it would be Oklahoma" before I finished reading it. But now my explanation is even worse LOLLOL

As for my last sentence, the one about the Kudzo vine? When I first began noticing it, I thought it was ivy or philodendron. Then I saw how it was taking over the trees and killing them. But, as it does so, it creates the most interesting shapes. When I saw entire stands of trees and shrubs being overtaken by it, I realized what it was!

Last weekend, I was driving on the PA turnpike between Morgantown and Downingtown (a stretch I drive often, only 1 exit), and I think what I saw was Kudzo here too. Although it does kill, it does so in the most remarkable way... it's really beautiful. I didn't get any photos of them, but I did manage to "borrow" some from other sites and put 2 or 3 on my trip website. One is called "The Ghost" and it's really neat!

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

I participated in a juried craft market several times out in Skippack many years ago. A group of members (the jury) evaluates your work (some may evaluate other things besides your work) and then vote to include you (or not) in their Guild (which is a union of sorts). Money probably will have to be paid, as in most memberships. You can then add their logo to your business cards and letterhead, sales receipts, etc.

By being a member of certain Guilds, you are showing your prospective customers that you are a "cut above" (in word carving, is that a pun?)
