Watching a concert on the T.V. the other nite and people were reminissing about Bob Dylan. Well I don't often think of Bob these days, altho there's nothin better than a 'Bob Dylan' Sunday. Sorta like the Beatles or any Artist with large volumes of work. (Arlo fans might appreciate this way of thinking. I know there aren't too many of his songs, I haven't heard. (IN fact my wish list, is mostly allot of Arlo stuff that he's collaborated with over the yrs. Tributes n Such.

***ANYHOW (I know it's long. Jesus I aint asking ya to sing loud, just read this stupid post)!!!!

I can remember when my kids were very young. (15 & 19 now). Not babies for sure! BUT I remember Dylans first LP....I didn't own it for yrs!!!! It was like finding a treasure map, all these unheard Dylan songs. (me being a lover of Folk) I was VERY dissapointed tho to learn, most all the songs were cover songs....(guess what you don't know cannot hurt you)! I had the cassette tape & they seldom give you all the credits....(what I miss most about LP's)
Ex. finding out Neil Young did a Don Gibson? cover (OH lonesome ME) Incredible stuff!!!!

A friend gave me his copy of Bob Dylan (first ever record) as he didn't like it, and he knew I'd keep it for Arts sake alone. That's when I found out about all the cover songs....Altho he did write a few of them??? I think???

The one that haunted me the most, and probably my most favorite to this day (Besides Mr. Bo Jangles......Dylan compliments Jerry Jeff.....It's a coin toss as I also love Jerry. I also credit song writers. Maybe too much?)

But that verse in one song....(ya'll mostly have it, if ya don't buy it)

I don't mind dyin, but I hate to leave those little children cryin"
When I was young, and my kids were small, that song (lyrics) made me identify with the All-Mighty. In those days, I really didn't care. I was passionate about life, but dying didn't scare me at all!!!! Nuthin I thought about!!!! Till I heard that song. & it was like, "I can't leave here! What about my babies"? I literally felt, I don't care if I die, but I don't wanna miss my kids.....

Now I know this is long but I'm getting to the short part!!!!

Now that my kids are just about growd, I still don't mind dyin. (not that it's a priority or nuthin).....But the feeling is gone. Like my grown kids will cry, but life can suck, and then you die.

Sounds like I better be blessed with Grand-kids.....Not that I'm in any hurry or nuthin.

But I could change the lyrics to fit 2003...."I don't mind dyin, but I hate to hear my Grand-kids a cryin"

And if any of this made any sence, I recommend you find a hobby......

Dedicated to all you bastards that read my crazy stuff! BTW: Being a bastard aint all bad. I know allot of really cool bastards.

Sincerely/RB

Neil Young also did a cover I liked, performing Ian Tyson's Four Strong Winds on his Comes A Time album.

That's what you gotta love about these boards, it's a place where you can let your natural bastardness grow and develop and take a meaningful shape in today's society.

Great point Z-man! Ian Tyson wrote allot of great songs. (4 strong Winds being my favorite). I love the quote also. Being a bastard is hard work. I know it took me a long time, to get where I am at!...lol....

Back to Dylan. I can't say I'm into Neil doing Dylan covers. His cover of 'Blowin in the Wind' makes me cringe.....(Altho I think it was a had to be there experience. Peyote would definately help matters) to say the very least!

/to Pat: (the quilt lady) The other Pat once said about myself, that I was understandable. It just took time, sometimes to really get the grasp. Altho she admitted she didn't always agree with me, that sometimes there was more there than met the eye. I took that as a compliment. I don't try & sound confusing on purpose (being cryptic isn't my forte). It's just the way my mind works. I need a paragraph, where most normal (well whatever that is. Nobody really knows I don't think) people use a sentence.

*I was once told if I could ever afford an editor, I'd have a great chance at writing. I knew they were right. Knowing for now seems more than satisfactory. So if you get bored of making Quilts (and please don't. Yours is SO Beautiful) maybe you can volunteer to edit my book...The one I haven't yet written, as I haven't or cannot afford an editor.....

I do have a plot & all the necesary items. Just way too many words....Maybe I'll come back in another life and be just that. An editor...Sounds like a fun job. Eliminating all the crap, and leaving in the neccesary. So imagine my work cut out for me as it stands now. I'd have to write 5 books, just to come up with one decent one.....But I guess that's not that all uncommon in a writer's field.????

If you ever get around to writing that epic work, I'm your editor!! I used to type my husband's papers in college--and I had to read his chicken scratch writing. If you email me your drafts, it'll be a cinch

Just for the record, "Four Strong Winds" is also one of my favorites--but I like Judy Collins' version.

"Four Strong Winds" is one of my favorites also, but I prefer the original Ian & Sylvia version.

Sorry there Arnie. There should be no need for such miss-communication. Take over where=ever you see possible.

No snow for the whole month of Dec. Sherry brought me a light dusting the other day, which has long since melted. ice rain and other crappy weather. Maybe a chant, more snow, more snow....At least my machine picked a good time to go in the shop....If it's not fixed before the wk end and it snows I'm gonna

Not too mention Sue's dying to try out her new cross countrys
