A Hard Days' Night indeed. I think my favorite tune from that movie/album is Tell My Why. There is such an air of breathless exhilaration in that song and the performance thereof.

Explanation: the Teenage Fanclub thing is most likely due to the fact that Brendan (drummer) has his name on the drum head in the same font as the Beatles logo. Well, that and the fact it's four guys and black & white. It also makes me think that the tune is something I can hear the Beatles doing around the Abbey Road/Let It Be period had they had the inspiration to do so. It harkens back to the period you shared also. Cool stuff, eh?

i totally noticed the font on the drum,,,he worked it for all it’s worth.

the song though, i was all over the place with that.

but hard days night,,,my fave from that is the opening scene when george harrison does his epic george harrison wipe out and ringo gets tangled up in it for about a second, and in all out resilience they are hardly able to stand for laughing and running as hard as they can,,,and didn’t even muss their outfits! talk about breathlessly exhilarating!

on a sidenote, timewise your posts have been incredibly well synchronized,,,it is funny!

I get the response to the TF tune. Back in the day I would have felt they could have done better lyrically - there's not much to it from that angle. If I was in a band today, I would definitely want to work the tune up but I would try to add some lyrically to balance word interest with tune interest. In some respect it is all chorus when I think of it.

That opening is one of my all time favorite among the movies I've seen. Again, I'm set up for a breathtaking ride - so much youthful exuberance. (I think they were at the height of things at this point. Still excited about the fame and not overwhelmed with the crush that same fame would turn to be in another year or so.) I always wondered why George was running with his left hand in his coat pocket. It seems that may have contributed to the fall he takes. It also seems counter to what the average person would do when running. Just one of those interesting things that happen for no apparent reason I 'spect.

yeah i don’t know who full on runs like that with their hand in their pocket?,,,maybe he was afraid he was going to lose something, like an important fob or something? :)! who knows!
it is a really nice jacket though, i would totally wear it!
