well of course the title of this thread right away put the song in the third clip to my mind...always liked that song. the song in the first clip (a new one on me) seemed to in some abstract kind of way cover a lot of ground in my thoughts...difficult to explain properly at the moment...
...and billy bragg has also put out a pretty good cd of woody's songs (which i happen to have)...yay me! :)
(the closest i have come to seeing any of those is that i have seen crosby stills and nash)

Last time I saw John was in Athens Georgia at an old converted movie theater. He was havin' fun and a gittin' down! I have so many memories of seeing John over the last 40 years and it is still hard to believe he is gone.

i have not seen john hartford, but a couple of his songs immediately sprang to mind that i have had the chance to hear, i've no doubt you will recognize them...they are pretty good!

One of those songs that reminds me of driving through Oklahoma and Texas and New Mexico and Colorado and all them days of my youth. I recently hit the road for a bit through the Shenandoah valley across the mountains and across Tennesseee on through Arkansas into Texas and down to Austin. It is amazing how you can drive for 4 days and drive in only 4 states. I went through Nashville and stopped in Memphis just to hang on Beale for a bit before going to Texas. I was thinking of a song called late nite neon shadows about a night in Nashville when Lee Clayton, Guy Clark, Alvin Crow and Steve Fromholtz all converged in a late night rendezvous when they were trying to be stars.

We enjoyed these guys at our little Folk Club on Tuesday night...and they were terrific. I was tired, and thinking about going home during the break (before the concert started) but they were so good, I stayed to hear it all...the kind of music that fills your soul and heart. Go see 'em if they play in your area...you'll be glad you did.

i thought it was kind of interesting too to find out that jimmy webb also wrote the song up up and away, don't know why i didn't say that.....sometimes my thoughts have a mind of their own i guess
