   We   thought they   never      end

D9   /   G   /   C   /   /   /
My      old      friend

Verse 2
My old friend
I can't remember when
We met or when the last time was
We had to say good bye
Because you and I
We laughed as time went by
Now you're just around the bend
My old friend

Chorus/Bridge/Whatever
Am   /   /   /   E7   /   Am   /
   The    world seems   col      der

F   /   G   /   C   /   /   /

C   /   /   /   A   /   /   /
   You're still   the   same

D9   /   /   /   /   /   /   /

G   /   /   /   /   /   /   /
memories                  of

It's on Live in Sydney. As to the rest, maybe one of the musically talented people around here can help you. (There are a "few" ...)

Basking in the memory of Arlo's concert last night in SLC and wishing I had the words to My Old Friends. Can anyone help me with that?

This is the best I can do with the live Guthrie Center version transcribing. Arlo has the New England accent that my Southern ears are quite fast enough for, so the asterisks mark places where I don't know exactly what he is singing. Best I can do. If someone can fill in the blanks, you can add this to the resources page.

My Old Friend - Arlo Guthrie

My Old Friend
Every now and then
Your face just comes to mind
And I recall *???* the times
When you and I
We'd watch the dates/days go by
We thought they'd never end
My old friend

My old friend
I can't remember when
We met or when the last time it was
We had to say good byes
Because you and I
We laughed as time went by
Now you're just around the bend
My old friend

Bridge: You know the world seems colder
So much has changed
As you look down from up above
I'm getting older
You're still the same
Still I'm thankful for these memories of

My old friend
I'll see you again
Time flies when you're smiling
So I hope it takes a little while
And you and I
Will watch the world go by
And we won't *care where every memory is*
My Old Friend
