Thank you, I need to add a recent Arlo to it. What I truly love is seeing Pete...watching from stage left on a couple of them. Warms my heart!!

The song it's self, makes me feel better when I've had a rough day.

The shords are easy but i still search for the rythm of this song . Now i am using a basic rythm. The greatest problem for me is to find out the right strumming pattern for the most songs i play . I think its a matter of experience or can somebody give me a tip . :)

The song is in the key of A on the 'Outlasting The Blues' album. Here´s what I hear:

Sailing Down This Golden River Pete Seeger

(A) (F#m) (Bm) (E)
(A) (F#m) (Bm) (E)
(A)Sailing down my (F#m)golden river,
(Bm) Sun and water (E)all my own,
(A) Yet I was (Bm)ne(E)ver a(A)lone.(E) (A) (D) (A) (E)

(A) Sun and water, (F#m)old life givers,
(Bm) I'll have them where(E)e'er I roam,
(A) And I was (Bm)not (E)far from (A)home. (E) (A) (D) (A) (E)

(A) Sunlight glancing (F#m)on the waters,
(Bm) Life and death are (E)all my own,
(A) Yet I was (Bm)ne(E)ver a(A)lone. (E) (A) (D) (A) (E)

(A) Life for all my (F#m)sons and daughters,
(Bm) Golden sparkles (E)in the foam,
(A) And I was (Bm)not (E)far from (A)home. (E) (A) (D) (A) (E)

(A) Sailing down this (F#m)winding highway,
(Bm) Travelers from (E)near and far,
(A) And I was (Bm)ne(E)ver a(A)lone. (E) (A) (D) (A) (E)

Ex(A)ploring all the (F#m)little byways,
(Bm) Sighting all the (E)distant stars,
(A) And I was (Bm)not (E)far from (A)home. (E) (A) (D) (A) (E)
- Two instrumental verses, ooh instead of words -

(A)Sailing down my (F#m)golden river,
(Bm) Sun and water (E)all my own,
(A) Yet I was (Bm)ne(E)ver a(A)lone, (E) (A) (D) (A) (E)

(A) Sun and water, (F#m)old life givers,
(Bm) I'll have them where(E)e'er I roam,
(A) And I was (Bm)not (E)far from (A)home, (E) (A) (D) (A) (E)
(A) Yet I was (Bm)ne(E)ver a(A)lone, (E) (A) (D) (A) (E)
(A) And I was (Bm)not (E)far from (A)home. (F#m) (Bm) (E) (A)

This is Arlo Guthrie´s version, the way I play it.
Arlo has a descending high notes run on the A-chord after the third and some other verses,
a-g#-f#-e-d-c#, instead of the (E) (A) (D) (A) (E) progression.
