Happy Birthday Woody!!! This land that was made for you and me is still in pretty rough shape. Kids are still hungry, lots of folks are out of work and havin' an all-around rough time of it. The greedy bankers and politicians are still doin' their dirty deals, and some of the preachers are still usin' Jesus to justify their own sins and line their pockets. Lots of folks are real scared, Woody. But a bunch of us are still singin' your songs about how to organize into one big soul and fight to make this country a place that was made for you and me. Your life has taught us by example to never be afraid to work and fight to help those who are down on their luck and to make this world a better and more peaceful place. Pete and Arlo and Jack and Bobby and a bunch of others are still singin' your songs all over the world, and a whole new crop of songs they wrote. And even though you've been gone into the gulf-stream waters by way of Coney Island for 50+ years, you've even got new songs comin' out thanks to Nora and a bunch of others. Pretty funny, ain't it? You made a hell of of difference in this world and touched the lives of hundreds of millions of folks through your music and stories, and I reckon your words and songs'll still be around for another hundred years. You planted the seeds of man, and are truly bound for glory. We miss ya Woody, and we give thanks for what you left us to learn from and ponder over. Take it easy, but take it! Thanks for the peace that you gave us, but that ain't all you had to give. Say a big hello to Leadbelly from us. Stetson'll fill you in on the rest........

Happy One Hundred Woody.
We are still fighting and trying to keep the hoping machine running.
We could use a bit more of you today.
We remember Woody today as a man without fear of speaking out about the plight of many who had no voice of their own.

Good job Kevin.

Cher, if ones dad were a ramblin' man, one may feel different about that.

Caught bits and pieces of an hour-long interview with a biographer of Woody's on NPR this morning. If anyone has a link to the NPR site with that streaming audio archived, please post it here. TIA.
