The Dr. Pepper Central Park Music Festival began its life as the Rheingold Central Park Music Festival (and then later the Schaefer Music Festival) in 1966. It was a music festival which was held during the summers starting in 1968 at the Wollman Skating Rink (now called the Trump Wollman Skating Rink) in NYC's Central Park. The series was sponsored by F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company (which made beer) until 1976; at that point it became The Dr. Pepper Central Park Music Festival when Dr. Pepper assumed sponsorship.
