Thanks so much for sharing this story Arlo. It filled in a lot of gaps of knowledge I had about Ma, and you and your family as well, even though I've been going to your shows and following your goings-on for about 40 years. I was raised in a family that considered your Dad, Pete, and Lee Hays a part of our extended family. My children were raised on your shows and songs; they are raising the Grandkids on your stuff as well as your kids' and Grandkids' stuff. We've always felt a connection that just takes it for granted that you guys are part of our extended family and personal history. My 7 year old Grandson took up the guitar early and, while Krishna and Moe are his heros, I think he's secretly got a thing for Serena. Anyway, now I will pass on Ma's story to the rest so they can understand how important an influence she has been to your family and your music, and to the planet - and therefore to ours. I wish I had met Ma, but after reading the article you shared I feel like I know her better. Jai Ma! Blundervibes sent! See you at the Florida Folk Fest in about a month. Namaste, Kevin
