I'm pretty quick on picking up on some of the stuff arlo plays. But I can't figure out for the life of me exactly how to play Haleiwa blues. I know he's playing in dropped D but I need some help on the chords. Can anyone help me with tab or anything. It's such an awesome song and I'd love to be able to play it in AG's honor
Thanks

how about

D for a while and then G D
D some more then A
D again till a G D
D and a A D

which works ok for a while but the start of the bridge has me confused. The D cascades to something and the refrains are nearly the same as above.

kurt...

Okay okay... Mrs. G posted me in bed! Well, on the bed. Playing! It's not as bad as it sounds. Actually it sounds pretty good. Haleiwa Farewell, that is. You can SEE it for yourselves on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBjbNlhiXo0

your right agnes.
when I first met adg's hands (while sitting next to him while he was chewin' the fat with a few folks) they made an impression on me I've never forgotten. After the face, I think, the hands tell us the most about a person.

I think most people who play music tend to watch other musician's hands..in a jam, you'll frequently see people playing in a circle for that very reason, so others can follow when they really don't know the song. You can at least come away with basic information, like what key the song is in, what the chord progression is, and where it goes if there's a place where it modulates. And if you can't sing in their key, you at least have an idea of what you can do about that.
Arlo has beautiful musician's hands...I can tell what chord he's playing on a guitar from fifty feet away. That's wonderful! There's a lot of guys who play with different technique that makes it difficult to decipher what they're doing...so you're back at square one...using a program that slows down the song on key (I've got Transkriber) so you can figure out what the heck is going on.
It was a little easier in the days of record players that played in different speeds!
