We're somewhere in March which means mud can't be far away. The Group W Bench Sessions are done (for now), and they went pretty well. We're at that strange point in-between winter and spring, around here in the Northeast we know it as mud season. It's probably similar in lots of places, even if a slightly different times. But, the birds are beginning to leave the cover of the trees and make their way out into the open. Some are returning from far away places. Everyone likes mud! Well, some more than others.

I miss the salamanders that I would find almost anywhere.

Seems we are in for a balmy week here but not quite as balmy as you folks are getting.hoping to see the snow drop a few inches this week.We have some newts/salamanders here but i have not seen many. What i notice though is in mud season and shortly after I used to see tadpoles just about anywhere that puddles would last more then a few days. Now you have really go out and look to spot a few.

I too love our amphibious friends.

In thinking about venturing out to see who I might encounter reminded me of when I was out near some waterways and there were a lot of blue tailed skinks running around. It was great! And I am standing there by the water and notice this little guy walking near my foot. So I just stand still and “he” crawls under my teva sandal that have an arch underneath. And I am standing there, sure he’ll be walking out the other side….any minute now….anytime now….so I carefully lift my foot and he looks slightly disheveled and bleary headed. Apparently he’d fell asleep and was looking up like, “Hey, who turned on the lights? (and) What’s the big idea?” So I gently laid my foot next to him to see what would happen and he crawled onto my toe and found his way into my pant cuff. As much as I wanted to leave him there, I didn’t want anything bad to happen in my walking around so I had to turn my cuff out and let him back out onto the ground.

Creatures notwithstanding, Marti & I got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine yesterday. One and done. No ill effects. Perfect weather too! Geez, things are looking up! BTW, I don't think the salamanders and other creatures are easily fooled. They'll be hiding out until there's not that much chance of really cold weather again until next Autumn. They're smarter than me.

Oh Yay! Glad to hear it!

And yeah! They (the salamanders (and such)) will be out when they are out. In years past I would sometimes see them right outside,,,and occasionally even inside, haha…and I’d pick “him” up and put him back outside. But like Sparky says too, more recently I have to wander out a ways to see any.

But yeah, thanks for stopping in and for the update!

Here, Spring has arrived with primroses, violets….and april showers, but it’s still cold.
There are no salamanders in the area where I am, and fewer and fewer frogs; no longer enough insects, tallgrass or watering holes!

Violets already? Wow. And I do love rain showers. Today is clear, and wear-a-couple-layers weather.
Was out earlier, clusters of snowdrops and crocuses, celandine, some fish, and one fresh water clam.

Salamanders (for one) eat mosquitoes and we get plenty mosquitoes, and have fewer salamanders these days, and more mosquitoes.

Hehe i still remember a Art Linkletter story of a young boy who had a limp/dragged a foot. His folks took him to the family Dr. who sent him off to see a specialist. When the specialist asked the boy why he had a limp "I'm Chester,,,,I work for Mr.Dillon!" was his response.

I haven’t seen enough of Gunsmoke to be familiar with all of the characters.

But the episodes I have seen engage you philosophically,,,and such

Thanks for that Sparky! I laughed out loud. Yeah it was on TV forever, one of the longest running series. Good writing!

Good old mud.Today was just above freezing, the next couple of day's are to bring temps in 50's.I should have more mud in view by Thursday.Meanwhile less then a hour north of me most ski hills are operating full tilt,at least as far as runs/lifts go.We are on a border here of Ontario and Quebec and folks have been discouraged from crossing. At one point the Quebec side locked down the bridges. Here in the bush prob less then a foot of snow, wind swept farm fields are patchy.Although they are not mountains but called hills in Gatineau there is still at least 2 feet of snow in bush.
