Hi Arlo!
Did you know that last week there was a fundraiser in Traverse City (where you will be next week) where a group of people sang and played This Land is Your Land for 72 straight hours- 943 repetitions? The charities 'Buckets of Rain' and the 'Great Lakes Friends of Safe Passage' used the occasion to raise money for food security and educational opportunity in both Detroit, Michigan and Guatemala City, Guatemala. We'd like to thank you and the Guthrie family for granting us permission to use the song to benefit humanity. It was amazing! Information about the groups is available at bucketsofrain.org and safepassage.org. We hope to have quite a few of the performers in attendance at the city opera house here in Traverse City for your show, though we are getting kind of a late start, seems most of us thought the concert was the end of October, our bad.
thanks!

72 hours of "This Land is Your Land"..............that is the coolest news I've heard in a while. Very impressive, and a really great idea for fundraising  . I hope it spreads around the country and the planet. And perhaps into the halls of Congress? You know, for those times when a politician just has to make a long-winded point.

Arlo never acknowledged this feat. How does one get ahold of him, anyway? We're going to do it again next year, and would like him to know about it. The Traverse City Opera House was supposed to get in touch with him for us, as we were totally unable to gain access thru the internet. :(
