Phil Everly, who rose to musical fame with his brother Don in the duo the Everly Brothers, died Friday in Burbank, Calif., his wife tells the Los Angeles Times. He was 74.

RIP He and his brother were on my parents play list and some of my first musical memories. Kind of god fathers of rock, country, folk, and rockabilly music.

I was so sorry to hear about him. I think he was the Everly brother that played on Arlo's Power Of Love album. I remember Arlo telling a funny story about it in concert once.
