One of my jobs is an usher at Comerica Park. Saturday at work they honored the 1968 Tigers with a pre-game ceremony. Jose Feliciano sang the national anthem, his version of the national anthem, it was very cool. I was only nine when the Tigers won the penant in 1968. But I heard Jose sang the national anthem at the fifth game of the series in 1968 and got boooed. People did not appreciate his version. This past Saturday he got a standing ovation! I think we are taking baby steps, better baby steps than none at all....

wow....you got me curious to hear this (jose's 1968 singing of the national anthem) so i checked out a brief clip on youtube, and pardon if i come off as naive, but why do you suppose it is they reacted that way?

He's a good one so I can't imagine why they would not like it. Unless it's because he is Hispanic.
