Did you watch "The Sixties" on CNN last night?
The scene was an LA airport
A flag draped coffin being loaded on a plane taking RFK home
Did you recognize his escorts?
Jackie Kennedy and Coretta Scott-King got on board to join the battered corpse of America's soul.

Where were we headed before they were all shot down?
Where were they going to take us?
Where would they want us to be today?

How have we become so socially numb?
Do we only get high so we forget we're this low?
This should have been fixed long ago!

We just keep on truckin'
But we can't get back

We saw the best and the worst of mankind

We landed on the moon as we killed a dream
We're still swimming upstream
No one hears our muffled screams

Corporations have become people
and people have become anesthetized house cats

The dream was on the verge of spilling over into culture. But too many of the dreamers became comfortable with it just remaining a dream, wanted to keep on sleeping on. Many were bribed, black-mailed and/or extorted into embracing the dark, the other. 1975ish comes disco insertion for distraction, I mean, who doesn't like to dance? even if the music/lyrics were mindless and not "I'd love to change the world"--and the addiction to money brought Ronnie Ray-Gun, hired gun of corporate behemoths, and the water simmered on, the boiling frog was too busy to notice the temperature was rising. We listened to Arlo and Pete and just knew the messengers were enough to reclaim the dream.........just a temporary relapse. Just gonna push the snooze button once or twice more, then get up and get to work.

I wonder how it all
Came to Pass
How it all slipped through
My fingers so fast?

Not one of those who gives up because it's too late, ya know, the damage done. Not too late if we start now. And if not NOW, well then, tomorrow NOW. I wonder how many NOW's we have left?
How long will we continue to accept our planet being run and destroyed by sociopaths? The water's getting hot, and that's no climate-change pun.
