That's' true about Teflon in that I've heard that for years, too. I remember as a kid, all we had were the black wrought iron skillets. I have no idea how we kept food from sticking to the pan, especially eggs fixed over easy or sunny side up. I can't imagine trying to turn them without breaking them all over the skillet. <sigh>

i have a stainless steel frying pan with an aluminum clad bottom (on the outside of it)
and a cast iron frying pan i've also had for a while and use regularly. it came with seasoning instructions stamped directly into the underside of it which i thought was so cool,,,,so old school and practical! anyways, i seasoned it when i got it and when i wash it, it is the last thing i wash in the dishwater (it is just what i do, others may do something different). first i wipe out any oil and crumblies, then do a quick wash and rinse, nothing fierce, and dry it off right away and wipe a thin coat of oil around the inside of it. sometimes i will boil a bit of water in it to loosen up any crumblies (it happens), dump it out, rinse with hot water (as usual), dry it off and right away wipe a little oil on it while the pan is still hot. works great for eggs and such. i really like it a lot, but it is not a frying pan you just soak and/or scrub and toss on the dish rack to dry

i hope that was thorough enough, i just do it without thinking about it and hope i haven't left anything out.

anyway, it was just a small bit i had heard on the radio about teflon not being good, but here is an article (the title says much) that goes into more

http://otherwords.org/toxic-teflon/

and another article (that is not the complete, wish it was, but still may be of value) i do think it is relevant

as if (o)possums weren't magnificent enough…………….

…….….so another thing that i have learned is that well, i have read they are considered "deer" tick eating machines. they wander around collect them and manage to get like around 90% or so off themselves and eat them. (their poop has been examined) . i read a couple few article, here is one:

http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/stor ... /70221442/

i posted this a little over a year ago here, and the other day someone told me (because i had told them about it) that they had recently heard a radio dj give a shout out for possums, asking that folks not be so hard on them, highlighting (on the air) their proficient deer tick eating skills.

i thought that was awesome…..possum

i was thinking about accuracy in reporting and the fairness doctrine again.
fairness doctrine introduced in 1949, then became a casualty of the reagan administration 1987, language implementing doctrine formally removed in 2011.

an interesting commentary here
