I'm not certain just where in the forums, but someone indicated I wasn't responding to all of the [bulloney.] When people get demanding, I start ignoring them. There's a handful of members here who post. Tubing Bob Dylan or the Kinks is great, but there's so very little original, creative thought. That lack of innovative thinking rarely coexists gracefully with innovative thinking so I stay mostly to my own forum. There may be only one other regularly posting member, but so what? I find it far more relaxing to have one intelligent, civil discussion than 10 slug fests. I have lots of work to do especially if I want enough fuel condensed for the winter. My "forum time" thus is limited to discussions that are worth the effort.

Discussing time and space, psychology, math, the arts and geophysics and even chemistry are my bag. Discussing useless issues such as the constitution or laments over days gone by are not my ideas of worthwhile discussions.

I'll give Kevin credit for recognizing the "liar paradox." I've encountered quite a few "great internet mathematicians" who miss that one, even though simply recognizing it offers an image of someone who knows philosophical logic, that, of course, being far more important than the ability to crunch numbers or, as Einstein called it "bean counting."

I can't take credit for something I didn't do. Or if I did do it, then it's insignificant because anyone could do it. Is all the fuss over my understanding that a 'pair of docks' means two docks? 1+1 :?

That's what I thought

Now for a pair of dock songs! (I know these should really be over at the other place but what the hay.......call it a paradox) :D

This next one, in my opinion, is really something!!!:

Whoops. Sorry Agnes...

1 + 1 what? 1 momma chick and 1 decuplet of baby chicks = 11. The value depends on the logic of the particular philosophy. For instance 1 electron + plus 1 proton = 1 hydrogen atom. 1 sparrow + 1 robin + 1 bluejay = 1 birdfight.

Kevin was referring to pure mathematical principles of the Aristotlean Syllogism, of which the liar paradox, in it's pure form, is included. IMO it is more important to understand that than to be able to count non-figurative numbers till one's term of life ends.
