The great dilemma! The following three quotations from the billionaire thread all clearly suggest that America has never been a true Free Market Capitalist Economy! Why, even when it was at its closest to being a Free Market Capitalist Economy it was scandalized by the fall from grace of its greatest gods of capitalism by their mysterious creation of that socialist abomination, The Federal Reserve!

So now Free Market Capitalism never existed yet earlier you said that America is America because it is the only place where Free Market Capitalism Existed? Which is it?

The CLOSEST it got was pre-FDR. I know it is all or nothing in your world, but reality is much different.

No cosmic insight here, I am just smarter than you apparently. Now before you come up with a list of adjectives to respond with, rather than facts, how about you read what I posted?

There has never been a 100% free market capitalistic model in place in the US or anywhere for that matter.. We are part of a MIXED economy which is not pure 100% anything. Now that you are done Googling what a mixed economy is and hopefully have digested it, don't you wish you didn't run your mouth before you educated yourself?

So here is Jafo's Dilemma:

A. the Federal Reserve, JP Morgan and John D Rockefeller are Capitalists who caused the Great Depression and it was a failure of capitalism (as I think you have pointed out I have said on numerous occasions).

or

B. the Federal Reserve, JP Morgan and John D Rockefeller are socialists who caused the Great Depression and it was a failure of socialism.

Which is it, A or B?

C'mon Smart Ass, ANSWER THE QUESTION, i TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, That has not stopped Jafo the magnificent from the following proclamation on Jan 29 in the Pork Pie Hat Column:

Jafo wrote:
There was no failure of the free market capitalism system, because it hasn't been in place for almost 100 years.. But let's cut through the bullshit shall we? When America started, we were using horses and wagons, bloodletting as medicine, and burying our food underground to keep it from spoiling. Never in the history of the world has human kind come so far in such a short period of time. A great deal of that sir, was directly from the economic powerhouse created by a capitalistic America. It broke loose from the peasant serf societies of Europe. Now those same societies are dragging it down. It is no coincidence that America's greatness has diminished in lockstep to the amount of socialism introduced to her.

Note in bold, Jafo has attributed "human kind coming so far" to something that never existed! Amazing? The amazing Jafo has done it again! It sure is a rousing awe inspiring bit of Jafoism, isn't it?

How can this be?

Let's recap shall we?
heraclitis wrote:
This is from a guy who said "we can eliminate 40% of the debt by defaulting on social security".

He knows I never said that. He even puts it in quotes like he is quoting me, yet that quote doesn't exist because I never said it. Where I come from, we call that lying.

Oh, then there was this four point beauty:
heraclitis wrote:
Are you telling me the Markets never spin out of balance and leave people destitute? Are you telling me there would good old days before the entitlements when people did not suffer from the failures of capitalism? I guess that whole great depression is a myth?

heraclitis wrote:
And again WE HAVE THIS SYSTEM BECAUSE FREE MARKET CAPITALISM FAILED! That is why FDR did what he did.

heraclitis wrote:
Are we going through it again. NOBODY EVER SAID IT WAS CAPITALISM...IT WAS MEN WHO WERE FREE MARKET CAPITALISTS BY PHILOSOPHY!!!!!!!!

heraclitis wrote:
Jafo, The Great depression was a Failure of Capitalism!

Wow, he can't even keep a simple line of thought straight. Grain of salt describes his feeble brain.

Then:
heraclitis wrote:
Are you telling us it was a Success of Capitalism?

jafo wrote:
No, I am telling you it was a failure of government, particularly the first socialist constructs of our present day government.

heraclitis wrote:
Only an idiot like you would consider the great depression a success of capitalism!

Gee, I dunno, I guess "No" was not clear enough, unless of course, you are just a liar.

You post Milton Friedman telling us Robber Barons were really cool guys that made America and you say its facts?????

Isn't Milton the one that led you down the path to Jafo's pathetic apology that went something like "oh I didn't know what I was talking about when I said the Federal Reserve was created by socialists who had been great capitalists once but fell from grace when they gave into their natural socialist urges in the name of greed" bullshit????

Companies like Monsanto probably probably should be regulated out of business. If people were told the truth, from the media, free market could be able to regulate itself. Who wouldn't want to buy natural food, over the poisoned stuff I've been reading about for 5 years?

The (extreme right) republican and tea party types dependent on ignorance, hatred and greed for their very existance. They discourage free and critical thinking. They put into policy anything they believe will maintain and expand the ignorance, hatred, and greed of people. They define and demonize the enemy, in this case Obama, and point to him as the cause of these peoples problems. They create fear through lies, bad science, and rewritten history.

I love the line in this Roger Waters ''The Tide Is Turning'' video, that goes a bit like this, ''Who is the strongest who is the best, the east or the west? This is the crap they are teaching our children.''

http://youtu.be/tqtNvgzWsis

If it wasn't for the policies of the far right, the social concerns of the left, might not be as needed.

Thinking about what Arlo said here around 5 years ago, after I posted ''capitalism is corrupt'' (During a very angry time of my life.) ''If an ism is corrupt, then all isms are corrupt.'' Then, ''When someone says my way or the highway, that's when I start walking away.'' So after mellowing out, we are learning when to walk away or when to run. But am starting to ''think'' that maybe all isms are corrupt?

in the discussion around here jafo has implied he is not an obama fan. (when you mentioned obama i was somewhat caught off guard since we were talking about the great depression, and stuff a hundred years or so ago). (forgive?) but yeah, any effort toward meaningful discussion and it seems you are liable to get wacked in the head with a rolled up newspaper!

I clearly remember Frank Zappa saying he was a conservative, which must have been before he died in 1994. Oh, how at 14 years old we knew what he sang about with the slime in 1973 or early 70s, where we relived the 60s in LittleTON.

Image

Don't think he was ever given a chance to say what form of conservative this nut meant.
