Thanks for the link Goofus.

Business reaction
The mayor's announcement came as a relief for some of the people who own businesses downtown. Many have been asking the mayor to close the camp.

Mayor Adams...I want to make clear this action is not an action against the OP movement.

Wait, what?

I heard the mayor in an interview on NPR on the way home tonight. In the interview he never mentions increasing pressure from local business that was in your local news story. He said it was a safety issue. When pressed to explain, he refered to a molotov cocktail (where is this WTC building) and a couple of overdoses. He tries to minimize the OP's efforts by saying too much time is being spent on port-a-pottys and tarps.

The turth is he is under ever increasing pressure from local businesses to have this put to rest before the hoilday shopping season begins. But he won't say it. This is where the power lies. Hit them in the pocket book and they will be forced to respond. If a prolonged occupation prevails long enough it costs the city big money. That is the only way to force this issue up the chain of command to the people in power who can change the laws.

The NPR interview...

I agree, it will be interesting Sunday morning at 12:01. I hope more people flood in Friday.

Here at Occupy Sacramento no overnight camping has been allowed, so it is packed up, (except for those willing to be arrested) and then returns in the morning.

I heard that interview too. It was a driveway moment for me. They're planning a potluck tomorrow.

The mayor got the word that the parks would be preferred to the sidewalk and streets from the business owners perspective.

As promised, a new song and video. al Bari in Islam is one of the 99 names of God. It means The Evolver. A thank you to those in Egypt and across the world who marched in support of the people of Oakland, and a thought that we must trust that evolution can create a more just and equal world as long as we respect the world and love with all our hearts.

The beat is an Arabic walking mahmoudi (sp?). Hopefully, good for a journey.

This should be a live stream of what's happening in Portland now:

The parks have been fenced off and everybody is going to Pioneer Square. Peaceful so far.

Thanks for the link Goofus. That live link was at rest by the time I looked at it. But they did have some info in the report below.

The last report I saw this morning was that the mayor had relented after the protest grew to 3,000 and took to the streets and sidewalks. I'm seeing that is not the case now.

I'm glad it was for the most part peacful, and the crowd brought to the police the person who threw an object at the police.
