Today Cpl Nathan Cirillo was laid to rest in Hamilton Ontario. He was shot in the back while doing Sentry duty at the war memorial/Tomb Of the Unknown Soldier in OttawaThe person responsible was shot and killed just down the street inside the Parliament Buildings by the Sargeant at Arms before he could take another life, under the Peace Tower..of all places...sigh...We lost another soldier as well last week in Quebec.
There was a large turnout to show their respects along out "Highway of Heroes" when Cpl Nathan Cirillo was transported from Ottawa to Hamilton.Seemed so strange to me as usually these men are coming from overseas, not killed here in Canada.
My head is still spinning just thinking about it.I was with a buddy when it was going down here in Ottawa, his lady spent several hours under her desk in a building adjacent to where it ended. They spoke several times on the phone, she was terrified,it was sometime before it was known the shooter was down and was alone in his actions. It was hours before people were allowed to leave.

Officer Patrice Vincent. Cirillo, a reservist, was fatally shot Wednesday while standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa and, two days earlier, Vincent was run down by a man driving a car in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Both acts appear to have been deliberate attacks on Canadian soldiers by men who were recently drawn to Islamist extremism. Both attackers died as a result of their actions.

So sad; saw a picture of the guy's dogs waiting forlornly for him to return home. Hate to give vent to base emotions, but the scumbag(s) who do this shit should be torn into little pieces and thrown in the garbage.
