Didn't the infamous shoe (being pounded on the podium) belong to Nikita?

Hula Hoops, Whirly-Whirlers, Bolo-Bouncers and Roller Skates in the street!

Two different shoes, Wyldflower. Image One thing you can say for 1955 is that it was 4 years before the coming of Barbie.

I remember all kinds of stuff from 1955, but I wasn't born until 1957. I just love celery time.

I missed 1955 due to not getting to be born until 1961. Mike tends to romanticize the 50's as being one of the best erea's. I jokingly tell him that was the old timey days LOL! Image

I guess this means Cheryl is over 30, so we can't trust her anymore! (sigh)

Cheryl, in '55 you could go trick-or-treating

that was a different shoe, Wyld....on the campagin, i don't remember whether it was 52 or 56, some photog took a shot of Adlai, one foot kinda up, and the sole had a big worn spot. That became Adlai's "symbol" of being a "regular guy" on the stump...
ah, yes, the perks of aging, such as they are....

ok, one more election campagin story...
My Dad was a confirmed, New Deal Democrat, so, prior to the 1948, Calif primary, he taught his 15 month old son, me, to open the door, with a cheery...
"Phooey on Dewey, Hoooray for Truman...!!!
several Republican aunts & uncles were not inpressed, with my political precosciousness!
(nor, am I, with that spelling)

Image I did read somewhere awhile back that they chaned the don't trust anyone over 30 to don't trust anyone over 50 cuz most the the folks who believed don't trust anyone over 30 are now over 40. So I have 10 more years to go LOL! Image

Fitzy's right, Cheryl. The folks who originally said that are now over 50 and some are over 60 now. We're also changing the line in My Generation (now the name of an AARP publication0 to "hope I don't die til I'm really old."
